VMWare System Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VMWare System Engineer based in the United States.

This role is a key technical position focused on designing, building, and maintaining advanced VMware-based virtualization environments that support mission-critical infrastructure. You will work across complex data center ecosystems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and secure operations across hybrid infrastructure platforms. The role involves deep engagement with VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX-T networking, and disaster recovery solutions such as SRM and vSphere Replication. You will contribute to the stability and performance of 24/7 enterprise manufacturing environments where reliability is essential. Working in a highly collaborative and engineering-driven setting, you will partner with cross-functional teams to optimize infrastructure and automate operational processes. This position is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure expert who thrives in solving complex virtualization and networking challenges at scale.

• Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere environments including vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and VMware Cloud Foundation infrastructure.
• Implement and support disaster recovery and business continuity solutions using VMware SRM, Live Recovery Manager, and vSphere Replication.
• Architect and operate stretched and metro cluster environments to ensure high availability and system resilience.
• Configure and manage NSX-T for network virtualization, segmentation, and security across enterprise environments.
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and perform root-cause analysis to ensure optimal infrastructure health.
• Automate operational tasks and infrastructure processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Support complex datacenter projects in collaboration with infrastructure, security, and application teams using Agile methodologies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with VMware technologies including vSphere, NSX-T, and disaster recovery solutions such as SRM.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and security layers.
• Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable VMware-based infrastructure environments.
• Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, with exposure to Cisco and Dell switching environments considered a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, domain services, and enterprise system integration.
• Experience with automation and scripting to improve infrastructure operations and reduce manual workloads.
• Strong skills in monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting complex environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently and deliver results.
• VMware VCP/VCAP certifications and networking certifications such as CCNA/CCNP are considered an advantage.
