Job Description

Team: IT

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer in the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced software engineering leader to help shape the future of cloud-native supply chain technology and intelligent logistics infrastructure. In this role, you will architect and build scalable backend systems that power high-throughput shipping and fulfillment solutions used by enterprise clients. You’ll operate across the full software lifecycle, balancing hands-on coding, distributed systems design, technical mentorship, and production ownership in a fast-paced engineering environment. The position offers the chance to work with modern AI-assisted development tools, advanced cloud technologies, and event-driven architectures while solving complex operational challenges at scale. Ideal for a technically strong and collaborative engineer, this role combines deep platform engineering responsibilities with leadership opportunities that influence engineering standards, product strategy, and team growth. You’ll join a fully remote and innovation-focused environment where autonomy, reliability, and technical excellence are highly valued.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices, APIs, and distributed platform systems using Java, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Architect cloud-native solutions across AWS environments utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, and modern distributed systems patterns.
  • Build and optimize data architectures leveraging PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and real-time or batch-processing pipelines.
  • Develop event-driven systems, RESTful APIs, and message queue integrations that support enterprise-scale logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools and automation frameworks to accelerate coding, testing, monitoring, and performance optimization workflows.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices related to coding standards, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and deployment reliability.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline release management and operational efficiency.
  • Lead code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and serve as a technical escalation point for platform-related incidents.
  • Produce clear technical documentation including architecture decisions, API specifications, and system implementation guides.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, customer-facing teams, and data-focused teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization by providing guidance on software design, engineering standards, career development, and technical problem-solving.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of system reliability, scalability, performance, and operational stability across production environments.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in software engineering, distributed systems, or platform engineering roles.
    • At least 3 years of experience designing and implementing scalable cloud-native services, APIs, and microservices architectures.
    • Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud platforms and distributed systems infrastructure.
    • Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages including Java, Python, or TypeScript.
    • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and scalable data architecture design.
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI development tools such as Claude Code, code-generation models, or AI-assisted testing frameworks within engineering workflows.
    • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, observability practices, automated testing, and production monitoring.
    • Proven experience mentoring engineers and influencing engineering standards within collaborative technical teams.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Experience within logistics, supply chain technology, shipping platforms, or B2B SaaS environments is considered a strong advantage.
    • Benefits:

      • Fully remote work environment available across multiple U.S. states.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage, including partial dependent coverage.
      • 401(k) retirement savings plan to support long-term financial planning.
      • Optional life insurance and long-term disability coverage.
      • Generous paid parental leave program with 8 weeks of paid leave.
      • Flexible self-managed vacation policy along with sick and safety leave.
      • Paid holidays and volunteer time off to support personal well-being and community involvement.
      • Opportunity to work on innovative cloud infrastructure and AI-driven logistics technologies at scale.
      • Collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that values mentorship, diversity, and professional growth.
      • Exposure to modern AI-assisted software development practices and large-scale distributed systems engineering.
