Lead Software Engineer, Alexandria

The role:

The Lead Software Engineer for Alexandria will lead their team to break down and deliver high-quality work on time. You will be researching and leading the scoping efforts for software development projects focused on delivering best-in-class content in a variety of different types which are then transformed into an engaging learning experience. Additionally, you will guide and mentor team members to write clean, clear code, and robust tests. You will also independently own delivery of features. Reporting to the Director of Author and Publish, you will partner closely with Engineering, Product Management and Product Design to refine ambiguous work items into clearly defined, valuable work items and properly represent the technical concerns for each project.

Why you’re a great fit:

• You have 5+ years of experience in leading software development teams and demonstrated success in building software as a service (SaaS products).
• You are able to leverage your leadership skills, planning abilities and, expert experience working with front-end frameworks (e.g. JavaScript, React/Preact and Node.js).
• You have strong data modeling skills and experience with REST API’s and database understanding to effectively build and deploy a highly performant content creation system and ecosystem.
• You are deeply committed to building a more inclusive digital education platform and have experience working with WCAG and accessibility standards, web fundamentals, and responsive design.
• While not required, Graph DB, and API Gateway experience is a plus.
