Learning designer

Learning Designer, Labs, Temporary
As part of Udemy's Learning Design Team, this 6 month position will primarily focus on working directly with subject matter experts to create technical learning content for our project-based learning product, Labs. Specifically, you will work on developing Lab content related to role up-skilling and re-skilling for Udemy learners. This role requires a unique blend of curriculum design acumen, instructional design expertise, analytical abilities, and relationship management know-how. You understand the theories that support quality learning as well as the tactics necessary to build relationships with content creators to author quality learning content. You'll be working with a number of technical subject matter experts and managing a process that ensures best practices are implemented during development while also assessing the quality of the content from the instructional design perspective.

Success in this role will be measured based on the impact of the content created on our customers and learners, the efficiency of the content creation process, and the quality of the content.
Here's what you'll be doing:

• Build solid relationships with Udemy Instructors and other Subject Matter Experts in including providing workshops to develop their content, answering questions ad hoc, and providing feedback on the quality of what they are developing.
• Ensure the quality of Lab content by providing training to instructors, reviewing their work, offering quality feedback, and managing the timeline for completion.
• Act as a thought partner to help Subject Matter Experts bring their content and expertise to life as quality experiences for learning.
• Maintain and iterate on guidelines for project-based learning learning content for learning and career outcomes in technical fields.
• Work cross-functionally with different teams at Udemy at different stages of content development (content strategy, Instructor Partnerships, PDE etc).

We're excited about you because you have:

• 3+ years of professional experience in instructional design, curriculum development and/or teaching.
• An understanding of instructional design, online learning, and pedagogical principles and techniques. Bonus points for having formal training and/or an advanced degree in instructional design, learning science, or related disciplines. More Bonus points if any of this relates directly to adult learning, project-based learning or technical training.
• Experience developing content for online environments. Bonus points for simulation-based or project-based learning.
• Experience and comfort working with Technical Subject Matter Experts and topics. Bonus points for comfort with technical domains.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to identify and frame issues, synthesize information, and draw insightful conclusions.
• Exceptional project management and organization skills: you are detail oriented with the ability to move multiple projects to the finish line at the same time and on schedule.
• Great communication skills and the ability to create and foster strong relationships.
• Excellent verbal, written, proofreading, and editing skills
