Legal Counsel

• Draft negotiate and review commercial contracts including trading execution rate exchange platform software and technology agreements; consulting agreements; confidentiality agreements; corporate documentation; and other general business and legal agreements.
• Advise stakeholders of potential risks including regulatory risks in contractual areas and propose risk mitigation strategies. Ability to advise on corporate tax issues is a strong plus.
• Provide creative and legally sound solutions to ensure that projects keep moving forward to completion.
• Provide general advice on a wide variety of unique scenarios as they arise in the day-to-day conduct of IMC's business.
• Work with trading teams business owners and the procurement function to respond to various requests for commercial legal services.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required with strong academic credentials and active membership in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
• 8+ years of law firm or prior in-house experience in financial services industry preferred with an understanding of proprietary trading firm operations and the U.S. financial services regulatory framework including rules applicable to trading firms and broker-dealers.
• Demonstrated generalist mindset with intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn new areas quickly; ability to lead new initiatives from concept through successful completion.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively under tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent management skills and business judgment with a capacity to make decisions and give advice that demonstrate an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation.
• Strong research and writing skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively and proactively engage in in-person communication are required.
• Must be willing to step into a project management role to bring all business owners and stakeholders together to ensure that projects remain on track and deadlines are being met.
