Legal Counsel

Job Responsibilities

• Structure, draft, review, negotiate and close a broad range of contracts, from licensing and SaaS agreements to SOWs and NDAs, covering the full spectrum of what we buy and sell.
• Support the sales organization by negotiating customer contracts, understanding our customers’ positions and concerns, and collaboratively getting deals done.
• Work closely with the HR team on employment matters with support from senior members of the Legal Team as well as outside counsel when needed.
• Collaborate with Brightcovers in other departments as a trusted business partner to achieve business outcomes without taking on unreasonable risk.
• Problem solve across legal disciplines and functional areas, including product-related matters, data privacy and security, IP, finance, M&A,corporate matters and public company reporting.

Qualifications/Experience

• At least 2-4 years of relevant experience, with an emphasis on meaningful experience with commercial contracts, working either in-house or at a law firm (or both!).
• Ability to structure, negotiate and close a broad range of contracts, including at least some of the following: SaaS, professional services, licenses, etc.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple geographies.
• JD (or equivalent) and member of the bar in good standing.
• Curiosity about technology and a desire to learn and impact functional areas across the company.
• Attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and think and act quickly while juggling varied projects.
• Experience in employment law is a plus.
• Dedication to finding a way to get to “yes” while protecting the company’s interests.
• Common sense with uncommon levels of creativity and persistence.
• Thoughtfulness about contributing to our culture and our place in the world.
• Readiness to take on just about anything, and figure things out on the go!
