Summary:

This position provides strategy and operations management in support of the Enterprise Legal & Supplier Solutions department ("EL&SS"), with the purpose of leading, tracking and completing strategic initiatives and efficiencies for EL&SS. Working collaboratively with internal and external attorneys and business partners, as well as other shared services departments, this position devises and implements ways to enable the division to focus on complex work and minimize obstacles. This position's responsibilities will include legal technology and business process improvement and management, legal compliance management and operations, and other areas of legal operations.

Essential Accountabilities:

• In partnership with the leadership team, sets and implements the strategy to support the EL&SS department's success. Helps translate Division's goals and priorities into a strategic plan. Collaborates on team communications and ensures they are shared out timely.

• Evaluates current processes and identifies, designs, and implements operational solutions to increase ease of access, efficiency, and consistency.

• Assists with creation, maintenance, evolution, and analysis of system dashboards and trend reports to help guide data-driven business decisions.

• Implements a scalable program to ensure documentation/tracking of key EL&SS department-wide efforts, assignments, reporting and inter-connectedness. Facilitate quarterly objective and key results process to track team priorities and ensure follow through; provide regular reporting on metrics and workflows.

• Supports and manages special projects on behalf and in support of the EL&SS team. Creates project plans and coordinates the activities of project teams to ensure timely and successful execution of key initiatives. Optimizes attorney workflows, partnering with attorneys to evaluate workloads, volumes, timeframes, etc. to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency in the performance of legal work. Identifies and recommends opportunities for process improvements and opportunities to help balance workloads.

• Drives, tracks, and reports progress on key performance measures to inform decision making and support senior leadership. Delivers metrics and reports to measure department performance against department and division goals and scorecards, as requested and as supported by data expertise resources.

• Develops and generates reporting on outside counsel spending as well as legal assignments to facilitate evaluation of attorney workloads and project budgets.

• Drives and leverages implementation and use of technology tools (e.g., matter management/billing system, e-discovery, Al-related tools, etc) and information platforms (e.g., training, knowledge management platforms) to help drive the team forward and continue evolving with tools available to meet business needs. Assists with strategic planning of department technical and digital transformation roadmap.

• Oversees Outside Counsel and vendor management including RFPs, vendor selection, rate approvals, budget requests and DEi efforts.

• Collaborates with outside attorneys and law firms, coordinating enforcement of EL&SS's outside counsel guidelines, requiring budgets are submitted from outside counsel, and resolving billable hour issues.

• Participates in meetings with functional area leadership and within division to understand the strategic initiatives of the company and how it relates to the goals of the division and use this knowledge to lead the development of processes and procedures to improve operational activities.

• Maintains, monitors, and provides day-to-day oversight of the departmental budgets, office operations, and management system.

• Liaises with cross-functional teams and business partners providing systems and process training on behalf of the division.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Five or more years of experience in a corporate legal function role, including 3 or more years of corporate legal operations experience.

• Experience with legal operations technology (preferably doeLegal and/or Brightflag), including board portal and enterprise governance management, e-discovery tools, contracts management, matter and billing management, or similar technology.

• Demonstrated experience driving process improvements and managing projects.

• Proactive, entrepreneurial approach to recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues, and developing solutions.

• Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills as well as organizational and project management skills.

• Excellent interpersonal abilities. Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships.

• Competent in handling multiple tasks in a changing environment with attention to detail and ability to perform duties independently.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite tools.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a workstation and working on a computer.

• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or off-site investigations as needed

Salary Range:

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position's minimum qualifications, in additional to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of Excellus's total rewards package. Other components of the total rewards package may include participation in group health and/or dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time away from work, and paid holidays.

Min: 62,400.00 - Max: 115,800.00
