This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work.

Reporting to the Director of Digital Software Engineering, the Digital Software Engineering Manager is a proven leader who will manage at least one digital software engineering team for Harley-Davidson across our Omni-channel initiatives.

In this role you will:

  • Help manage digital software engineering teams to ship new products and services that make customers happy and contribute to the success of the company
  • Support and mentor junior digital software engineering team members to help them learn and grow in their careers
  • Oversee teams in the selection of the appropriate tools and frameworks
  • Promote "best practice" digital software engineering processes and techniques, including cloud-based architecture, source control, DevOps, and security
  • Collaborate with other teams such as design, product, IT and marketing
  • Be "hands on" when needed, jumping in to pair program with team members or pick up a bugfix ticket
  • Build digital software engineering culture emphasizing innovation, growth, and development
  • Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy regulations
  • Compile KPIs and evangelize the adoption of best practices in relation to performance and reliability across the organization;
  • Embed into SRE projects and on-call rotations to keep your skills sharp and stay close to the operational workflows and issues;
  • Promote a healthy and functional work environment;
  • Maintain project and operational workload statistics;
  • Provide a solid foundation for building and maintaining successful SRE teams.
You should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) - M.S. or other advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of overall software development experience with at least 1 year of team leadership experience
  • 3+ years of Web Development experience, particularly customer facing responsive web applications
  • Exposure to Cloud, SaaS, and virtualization concepts and performance concerns;
  • Experience with Loyalty Management platforms - Annex Cloud will be a plus
  • Knowledge of defining and monitoring system quality measures, including SLO and SLA;
  • Built tooling to improve reliability of systems, automated remediation of issues, or improve scalability;
  • Hands-on experience collecting performance data, analyzing, troubleshooting, and tuning;
  • Experience delivering software designed for high concurrency, scalability, or availability;
  • Experience leading high performing engineering teams;
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes and Spinnaker experience preferred);
  • Proven track record of designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining infrastructure on a large scale;
  • Strong experience with Javascript and TypeScript
  • Strong experience with one or more object-oriented languages (Java, Node, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork and excellent communication skills
  • Good working experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Proficiency with DevOps tools like Git, SVN, Maven, NPM, Gulp, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Docker, Kubernetes.
Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like jQuery, Angular, React
  • Working knowledge of server side programming frameworks like Node JS, Java
  • Working knowledge of building frontend components and pages in Adobe Experience Manager
  • Working knowledge of building eCommerce platforms using SAP Hybris (Commerce Cloud)
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Bootstrap
  • Experience integrating front end interfaces with internal and external services using API
  • Knowledge of Swagger and REST design
  • Skills developing and supporting mobile web applications

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
