Job Description
The Manager of Engineering Services has direct accountability for managing a team of highly skilled cloud infrastructure engineers. This role will plan, direct and deliver engineering recommendations, designs, and solutions throughout the organization, overseeing the implementation of cloud services, compute, storage, middleware, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, platform development and integration to meet business objectives of the Organization. The Manager will partner with business leaders and product owners to ensure alignment with all business requirements, objectives, and core technologies.
Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Develops and maintains technology strategies including the ability to conduct product evaluations, Proof of Concepts; adopt new and emerging technologies where appropriate.
• Provide recommendations, designs/solutions, execute and deploy across multiple disciplines and platforms.
• Leads and coordinates daily activities across all aspects of the IT Hosted and Non-Hosted activities related to the Engineering Platform Strategy team.
• Provides leadership and maintains primary accountability for Engineering and professional staff and workload delivery.
• Drives expense reduction throughout the division through the optimization of infrastructure hardware and software spend. Provides annual budget input aligned to strategies, business needs and financial obligations.
• Proactively identifies emerging technologies, assess future skills gaps and provides comprehensive upskilling plan.
• Assess project costs, risks, time constraints and overall solutions to meet project and business needs.
• Lead team including hiring, development, and performance management.

• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
• Maintains knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory mandates and ensures that activities are compliant with requirements.
• Conducts periodic staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Performs other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, six (6) additional years related work experience. Master's degree preferred.
• Seven (7) years of related work experience required.
• Demonstrated leadership skills including the potential to build high-performing skills and lead change.
• Knowledge and production experience with four of the following technologies and tools:
o Database (Oracle, SQL, CosmosDB)
o Middleware/Integration (Containers, Event Driven Architecture, IIS, Websphere, Informatica, Enterprise Content Management)
o Cloud Computing (Azure, AWS, Nutanix, VMware)
o Operating System Management (Windows Server & End User Computing), RedHat, UNIX
o Storage (Infinidat, Dell/EMC, backup & recovery, NAS, SAN, Cloud)
o Automation/IaC (Ansible, Terraform, Bicep, ServiceNow)
o Multi-cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, DBaaS, DaaS, DRaaS)
o Security (standards, policies, and best practices)
o Network (firewall, load balancing, multi-site connectivity, SDWAN, routing, network protocols)
• Knowledge and understanding of network and security principles and practices, enterprise monitoring, change management, asset inventory, vendor management, hardware/software and Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Service pricing models and agreements preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of DevOps, DevSecOps and Agile methodology and framework preferred.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex technical information, in-depth knowledge of systems design and implementation in an Open Systems environment.
• Demonstrated business and technical problem-solving skills, strong analytical skills.
• Works effectively and efficiently in a matrixed and 3rd party outsource environment.
• Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization and with external service providers. Ability to communicate changes effectively, build commitment from business partners.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and drive infrastructure change and transformation.
• Comprehensive understanding of network architecture and client/server technology.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to complete work in a traditional office environment under fluorescent lighting.
• Must be able to function while sitting at a desk viewing a computer and using a keyboard and mouse for 3 or more hours at a time.
• Must be able to travel across the enterprise.
• Ability to work in a home office for continuous periods of time for business continuity.
