Job Summary: Manages product line Finance team. Provides information and support for all aspects of program/product line expenses and revenues. Provides senior management with continual assessment of program/product line performance, and especially with early warning of potential problems so that appropriate, timely corrective actions may be instituted to preserve Company financial goals. Responsible for the preparation and oversight of financial statements and related supporting schedules. Maintains or helps to maintain the accuracy of the entity's related books of record such as the general ledger, sales journal, fixed asset ledger, cash receipts and disbursements, and accounts payable distribution. May also be assigned to special projects related to financial system upgrades, updates to accounting procedures, and development or improvement of accounting system processes. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the accounting group that performs the general ledger accounting function.
- Reviews general ledger account reconciliations.
- Work with the Accounts Payable Manager to set goals and priorities for the Accounts Payable Manager and the Accounts Payable team. Periodically assess performance of the Manager and team.
- Assists with the compliance and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the timely availability of accurate financial information to management.
- Prepares, maintains, or reviews documentation necessary for the audit of Cubic's financial statements and its system of internal accounting controls over financial reporting (Sarbanes Oxley compliance).
- Facilitates "Lean" principles and creating efficiencies within the department.
- Responsible for the accuracy, integrity, final publication, and distribution of product line reporting to various levels of management.
- Supervises and trains department staff to improve individual and organizational performance. Evaluates staff performance and provides positive feedback. Prepares or reviews annual performance evaluations for the Finance Department.
- Prepares or reviews proposal inputs for the Finance department.
- Reviews all external (customer) cost/schedule reports.
- Reviews and prepares product line business plans.
- Performs the most complex financial analyses and/or reviews analyses prepared by Finance staff members.
- Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for periodic financial reporting.
- Prepares other financial reports or analyses, as required.
- Monitors indirect departmental expenses, preparing variance analysis to support forecasting and budgetary analysis.
- Assists Corporate Accounting and Finance leadership on various internal reporting initiatives.
- Works with multiple corporate departments (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Financial Reporting) to assist in monthly processing, ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
- Demonstrates technical expertise, serving as a key contributor in operation and planning meetings, providing technical know-how in the formulation and execution of functional requirements
- Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of product line and establishes and ensures adherence to budgets and schedules.
- Responsible for business capital allocation reporting via CAPX, R&D, and other organic investment trade-off decisions.
- Work with General Manager and leadership team and develop short, medium, and longer-term financial strategy. To include recommendations for improved profitability.
- Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the strategic needs of the business and proactively contribute to the development of those needs through Finance teams
- Partners with Segment and Corporate FP&A departments to prepare the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Identify key financial trends which positively and negatively impact the organization along with communicating these impacts on a timely basis.
- Prepares monthly bookings, sales, profits and backlog reports for inclusion in the monthly Cubic financial statements.
- Ability to work Eastern or Central time zones.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree in accounting or finance plus a minimum of eight years of general accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting and/or manufacturing environment. CPA certification or MBA preferred. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), cost accounting standards and financial reporting requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word programs. Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management. Able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, work under deadlines. Exude a can-do attitude and possess a strong dedication to providing quality service to management. Candidate must possess the highest level of personal integrity.

(Colorado only*) Targeted full-time [salary/hourly] range between $109,730 - $138,355 + benefits.
*Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation range for this role when being hired to work from Colorado.
(New York only**) Targeted full-time [salary/hourly] range between $122,091 - $178,683 + benefits.
