Manager, Financial Reporting- PRT

Job Summary

The Manager, Financial Reporting Accountant areas of responsibility include managing the financial results of the institutional line of business, including FHLB, FABN, PRT and Separate Account Settlements, creating and reviewing managerial analysis for these divisions leadership in accordance with close reporting timing expectations. This role also includes management of our owned distribution assets. 

Organization

The Manager, Financial Reporting will report to the Director, Financial Reporting.  This role will provide leadership to 1-2 staff members and serve as a liaison to the institutional business unit senior leadership staff.

Duties and Responsibilities 

·        Reviewing reconciliations, journal entries and analysis of general ledger accounts and other financial data.

·        Executing internal controls designed to mitigate identified risks within the financial reporting process. 

·        Reviewing Separate Account Balance Sheet and Summary of Operations and ensuring results adhere to statutory basis of accounting.

·        Managing share count, dividends, buybacks, etc. as part of our SEC registered activity.

·        Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing changes necessary for strategic vision, including internal control enhancements to ensure risks are adequately mitigated. 

·        Assisting with requests of both internal and external auditors. 

·        Managing owned distribution assets, including computation of fair market value or equity method adjustment, management of any additional investments, and implementation of consolidation into our financial statements if deemed necessary.

·        Providing management reporting to the institutional business unit staff and serving as a liaison between them and financial reporting.

·        Researching and analyzing regulatory, technical or other information, as deemed necessary. 

·        Developing leadership skills and staff through on-the-job coaching, feedback, leading processes and leadership training.  

·        Management of staff including setting goals, performing reviews, and time management.

·        Assisting with ad hoc requests, special projects and other duties related to financial reporting and analysis, as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  

·        7+ years of experience in operational accounting or financial reporting.

·        Experience managing individuals   

·        Life insurance, financial services, or statutory separate account experience preferred.  

·        CPA license preferred.
