Manager, M&A and Strategic Finance

OVERVIEW

Seeking a driven and intellectually curious individual with the right tools and experience to manage cross-functional efforts to optimize, be a key member of Instacart’s M&A efforts, and to manage integration and reporting for acquired businesses. By joining Instacart’s Strategic Finance team at this stage, you will get to help shape the M&A footprint of the company at a key point in our evolution. This role will have a critical impact on our company’s near and long-term success and have the ability to collaborate with multiple business partners.

As a Strategic Finance Manager, you have cross-functional partnership skills, comfort working through complex challenges, thrive in ambiguity and in a dynamic environment. You are highly analytical and a clear, confident communicator.

ABOUT THE JOB

• Join a newly formed team and become a part of our team’s expansion and path to maturity
• Partner cross-functionally with Corporate Development, Business Operations, Accounting, Data Engineering, and Product leaders to drive and provide visibility into integration, budgeting and forecasting processes
• Develop monthly, quarterly, annual, and long-range planning; performance and forecast reviews; and ad hoc strategic finance projects and financial modeling that drive business decision-making
• Support all financial aspects of M&A including deal model review, valuation/benchmarking, financial due diligence, and post-merger tracking and reporting
• Prepare insightful analytics for cross functional teams; identify areas of opportunity to help guide Instacart’s strategic direction on go/no-go decisions or optimizing the acquisition synergies
• Become a trusted advisor to business partners, and embedded “CFO in the room”

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or other related field
• 6+ years work experience preferred in either investment banking, private equity, equity research, management consulting, or Strategic Finance/FP&A at a high-growth technology company
• Experience in data modeling, valuations, and forecasting a full P+L
• Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders, manage multiple competing priorities, and drive projects to completion
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and drive cross-functional understanding and cooperation across the business
• Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about complex business problems, leading to recommendations and action plans, especially operating in ambiguity
• A self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
• Highly proficient in Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel with the ability to build complex financial models
• Basic knowledge of SQL, or willingness to learn
