Manager, Mainframe Capacity Management
Job Description
This will be a technical leader/manager position providing their leadership and expertise in the Mainframe Capacity and Performance discipline to both the capacity planning team members and the clients this capacity team is supporting. The manager must possess a comprehensive and extensive knowledge in the Mainframe environment and also be expected to provide consultation and advisement to other technical principals within the mainframe disciplines. The technical capacity manager may also manage individual client accounts duties and present detail analytics and provide recommendations to both client and internal technical and executive leadership. This leader/manager will manage a team of planners, provide both personal and technical guidance/growth while collaborating with other technical and business organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Extensive Mainframe experience (z-series, zos operating system, architecture and design, other peripheral systems supporting and interacting with the mainframe compute environment etc.)
- Mainframe scripting/programing experience, utilizing JCL and/or other coding languages
- Extensive Statistical and analytical application experience (SAS, MXG, BMC, zpc3000 etc.)
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Manage direct staffing and provide career growth and counseling
- Ability to provide leadership to remote staff
- Ability to collaborate, build trust and working relationships with other organizations
- Ability to make business and personnel decisions/recommendations based on both quantitative and qualitative analytics
- Advise, Consult and Support multiple client environments each having unique requirements and requests.
- Ability to publicly communicate and present to large audiences, including industry senior technical personnel and/or executive leadership
- Weekend support infrequent but possible (1 out of 10 weekends)
- Support team on-call rotation
- KPI identification and definition
- Provides mentoring, technical consultation, training, and knowledge sharing to other associates and organizations.
- Develop technical strategies for the organization
- Lead and mentor on high complexity assignments
- Establish strong relationships with teams and outsource partners through continuous dialogue and support
- Provide technical expertise for client on-board / out-board activities
- Define, engineer, and deploy automation solutions for capacity team supported processes
- Perform Analytic Modeling tools used to right-size solutions
- Innovation thought leader on emerging technologies and automation solutions
Qualifications
- Requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 10 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent work experience
- Understands the competitive Mainframe landscape from both a business and technical perspective (especially capacity and performance)
