SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Manager, People will partner with the People team and COO to support all facets of human resources including full life-cycle talent acquisition, employee relations, training and development, legal compliance, and performance management. To perform well in this role, you should have a high level of integrity, a strong depth of HR knowledge, and a proactive approach to employee relations.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage recruiting, staffing, offer letters, drafting job descriptions, screening/interviewing candidates for designated office and/or open positions.
- Manage the new hire onboarding process including running background checks, creating first week schedules, and administering 90-day check ins.
- Conduct employee orientation, development, and training; as well as assist with terminations and exit interviews.
- Support with organizational and resource planning.
- Assist in managing payroll, benefits, and 401K provider.
- Facilitate employee relations, training, and company-wide communication.
- Maintain overall awareness of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations and respond to any issues or complaints of staff.
- Recommend and implement HR policies and procedures as well as ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Partner with People Team to provide guidance and consultation to managers in the resolution of any employee relations issues or performance coaching. Liaise with external professionals as required.
- Assist in administering the annual performance appraisal process.
- Advise and respond to any questions regarding People/Operations programs, practices, and procedures.
- Act as project manager for People Team initiatives, preparing plans with appropriate milestones and deadlines.
- Prepare budgets for culture and staffing related investments and costs, including recruitment, training, and employee reward budgets.
- Partner with the Finance and Business Operations teams to ensure projections and People Team spending aligns within agreed budgets.
- Complete HR system paperwork for new hires, transfers, promotions, and separations.
- Provide monthly/quarterly reports for operational updates as well as metrics to help determine the value and effective of People Team initiatives including but not limited to job data changes, org chart updates, and recruiting metrics.
- Maintain personnel files for respective employees and client groups as needed.
- Coach or mentor an HR Assistant, Coordinator and/or Generalist depending on headcount.
- Identify and implement department and company initiatives that need to be revised or developed.
Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field of study. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 2 - 5 years human resources or people operations experience; including 1 - 2 years of recruiting or staffing experience
- Previous experience as an HR generalist or similar with impressive people management capabilities and record of accomplishment of establishing credibility and adaptability
- Experience working in an event or staffing agency a plus
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, compensation and benefits, local and national laws, and FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) regulations and ability to diligently enforce policies in a manner consistent with the laws.
- Demonstrated capability to maintain strict confidentiality with employee information.
- Outstanding customer service orientation, sense of urgency, and a high-level of personal integrity.
- Able to excel in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and pivot while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Skills.
- Experience with a Payroll and ATS (Applicant Tracking System) system.
- Working with budgets and Expense Reporting.

- Natural curiosity—the drive to always be learning and growing, professionally and personally.
- High energy and flexibility in working non-traditional hours as needed (some nights and weekends as deadlines dictate).
- Willingness to work a hybrid schedule (up to 4 days in office) and travel up to 50% of the time.
Compensation Range: $78,000 - $103,000 annually. This is the pay range OBE believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on level of experience, relevant skills, professional certifications, market pay, and demand for the role. OBE reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, Benefits include: medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid basic life and personal accident insurance. Also included: Annual Profit Sharing/Bonus Plan based on the company’s performance and your individual performance, 401(k), Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, PTO, STD/LTD insurance benefits.
