The Opportunity

This position will be located in Abbott Park, IL or Chicago, IL.

Abbott's Global Procurement Services (GPS) is a corporate division supporting procurement and supply chain activities across all Abbott businesses. The Supply Chain Sustainability (SCS) team partners across Abbott businesses and functions (such as Operations, Supply Chain, EHS, Legal, External Affairs, etc.), as well as strategic external partners, to drive the strategic direction and management of supply chain sustainability, governance, and programming to all levels of the organization. The Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability Due Diligence Program reports to the corporation's Senior Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability within GPS:SCS team.

The Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability Due Diligence Program is responsible for the governance, implementation and management of Abbott's global supply chain sustainability due diligence program to all levels of the organization. Key responsibilities include (1) driving Abbott's supplier sustainability due diligence process (including sustainability risk screening, assessment, audit and remediation) in collaboration with Division Sustainability leaders and Supply Chain teams, (2) evaluating process outcomes and remediating identified risks in collaboration with SMEs, business stakeholders and suppliers, and (3) managing program metrics, tracking and reporting. The Manager will also serve as a subject matter expert, helping to identify and facilitate improving the sustainability of Abbott's supply chain in partnership with various Abbott functions, suppliers and other external partners,

What You'll Work On

  • Elevate Abbott's profile as a global sustainability leader and contributing to the operationalization of the company's 2030 Sustainability Plan and strategy across the organization.
  • Responsible for managing global, enterprise-level, supply chain sustainability due diligence program to meet external expectations, as well as facilitating integration of the program into day-to-day strategy and decisions at the category management level.
  • Develop and drive supply chain sustainability due diligence program strategy, including short- and long-term sustainability vision, goals, targets and metrics.
  • Serve as subject matter expert, helping to identify and facilitate improving the sustainability of Abbott's supply chain through training and facilitating deep dive engagements with suppliers and other external partners.

  • Support Supply Chain leadership to understand emerging supply chain sustainability expectations, risks and opportunities and trends to inform operations strategy.
  • Partner with Abbott and supplier stakeholders to identify, build and implement strategies, programs and initiatives that will address Abbott-supplier shared sustainability impacts across Abbott's value chain (i.e., CO2 emissions, water risk, and inbound materials that become Abbott waste).
  • Manage performance metrics, tracking and reporting for assigned programs and activities.
  • Develop and provide supply chain sustainability due diligence reporting for internal and external Abbott stakeholders.
  • Advance Abbott's management of suppliers through implementing best practices, processes and techniques including supplier selection, contracting, oversight, risk mitigation, relationship management, etc.

  • Represent Abbott's expectations, values and priorities to internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, industry organizations, NGOs, etc.
  • Network and bring best-in-class practices and innovation to facilitate Abbott's continuous improvement in sustainability issue management across Abbott's value chain.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years of experience implementing sustainability and ESG into supply chain and manufacturing operations, supply chain or procurement strategy development, audit and due diligence program management, or equivalent.

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advance degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, program management and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong communications skills and experience working collaboratively and building strong partnerships across teams.
  • Flexible to work within a matrix organization; at ease within a fast paced, demanding, goal driven environment.
  • Interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences, while optimizing overall organizational goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience implementing sustainability programs into global organizations preferred.
  • Sustainability experience in the following areas is preferred: Supply Chain Sustainability Due Diligence, Sustainability, Environmental Management, EHS Auditing
  • Advanced degree preferred.

The base pay for this position is

$90,700.00 - $181,300.00
