Job Description

What we’re building and why we’re building it

Trellis is an insurtech start-up. Our mission is to build industry-leading solutions that make insurance easy for everyone, from consumers to partners to insurers. Our embedded insurance solutions bring the market's leading insurance brands into the apps and ecosystems consumers already use to help them find, compare, and purchase personal insurance, harnessing the power of their personal data.

We’re fast-growing! Our partners include 4 of the top 5 digital banks and 7 of the top 50 personal finance apps in both app stores, including Rocket Money (formerly Truebill), Albert, and Acorns. We have backing from multiple top venture capital investors, including QED (Credit Karma, SoFi), General Catalyst (Airbnb, Stripe), Nyca (Acorns, Revolut), as well as Amex Ventures.

We’re fully remote. We believe it allows us to find the best talent wherever it is, provide our team with maximum flexibility, and stand out to candidates.

Trellis is led by third-time fintech entrepreneur, Daniel Demetri, who has previously founded multiple fintech and insurtech startups that now operate as publicly-traded companies.

Our Values
  1. Extreme Ownership – We fulfill our promises to each other and to our customers. We own our responsibilities 110%.
  2. Speed – We work quickly and pragmatically. We move fast and get things done.
  3. Craft – We are constantly learning and bettering ourselves and the way we work.
  4. Collaboration – We work transparently, solicit feedback, and leave our egos at the door.
  5. Positivity – We see a cup half-full, focus on the team's potential, and rise to challenges..
About the role

Trellis is looking for a Marketing Operations Manager to own implementation and day-to-day management of our highly personalized marketing automation campaigns. The opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys building technical and operational solutions that transform mass communication into individualized experiences at scale.

In this role you will design, implement, and optimize SMS and email marketing campaigns that are deeply integrated with our insurance marketplace recommendation product, and our in-house insurance agency that serves many of our users. Your work directly benefits consumers across the US who are overpaying for insurance, or whose financial goals are at risk because of poor insurance coverage today.

In this role, expect to:
  • Work across the entire business, with teams like product, engineering, analytics, and consumer operations.

  • Own the technical implementation of marketing automations - including scripted personalization logic using Liquid, webhooks, and system integrations.

  • Implement automated marketing campaigns with granular targeting and personalization.

  • Analyze campaign performance to identify areas of opportunity for A/B testing and new campaigns.

  • Solve complex operational problems with creative automated solutions.

To succeed in this role, you have:
  • Consumer (B2C or B2B2C) marketing experience.

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience with marketing automation in any tech stack/platform (and at least some familiarity with HTML/CSS for email).

  • Working knowledge of the template scripting language Liquid, or relevant transferable knowledge of another scripting/programming language.

  • Striking attention to detail, especially as it relates to the nuances of personalization logic and workflow design.

  • An ability to “look around the corner” and proactively design technical solutions that are scalable, maintainable, reliable, and “fail gracefully” when necessary.

  • An analytical mindset, and experience analyzing marketing data to generate actionable business insights.

Nice to have, but not essential:
  • Startup and insurance experience are nice, but not required – if you’re curious, humble and hard working you will excel in this role.

  • Experience with Looker or SQL (at the very least, a willingness to learn).

  • Experience integrating software systems via API/webhooks, especially proprietary internal systems and/or CRM platforms.

  • Experience with Customer.io and Kustomer.
Trellis is a fantastic place to work
  • Join a talented, passionate team that we call friends, mentors, and colleagues
  • Flat, collaborative, transparent culture; get in at the ground floor and be a true business partner
  • Opportunities for growth and development within your role and all areas of the organization
  • 75th-percentile (competitive!) compensation
  • 100% remote work environment
  • Quarterly, fun team bonding events

Trellis additionally offers competitive benefits:

  • Unlimited vacation time
  • 100% employer-paid insurance for employee, 60% for dependents
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Bonuses and equity opportunities
  • Budget for home office equipment
