POSITION SUMMARY

Required Formal EKG class with a minimum of 24 hours (certification or transcripts with hours required).

• Required to pass a successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia Assessment test with a score of 80% or better (test administered pre-hire).

• Required current BLS card

• Related training required through work experience and education.

• Preferred 1-2 years of previous job-related experience.

A Monitor Tech observes the heartbeats and electrocardiograms (EKG) of patients in intensive care units or ICUs. ?

What you will do:

• Monitors and reviews patient information to determine baseline cardiac rhythm analysis

• Notifies RN of cardiac rhythm variances that indicate pacemaker malfunction.

• Examine heartbeat patterns, noting heartbeat irregularities in patient files, ensuring that heart monitors are functioning correctly, and reporting to the medical staff in charge of the patients
