General Summary

The Network Administrator supports, manages, and ensures the operating capability of both the LAN, WAN, and VOIP networks are available for all hours of operation. Maintain adequate knowledge of existing hardware and software in use to maximize the efficiency of the network and users' utilization of them.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Act as the Situation Manager to repair and reform unplanned events which adversely affect the network or computing environment.
• Ensure hardware, software, and network upgrades, installs, re-installs, changes, and relocations are efficiently completed as required.
• Install, configure, and maintain PCs, file servers, network cabling, and Ethernet networks.
• Add and maintain users on the network; assigning application access, ensuring security, and maintaining their configurations are within standards. Assist in providing computer/network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by users. Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating systems and application software being used to provide high levels of support to users.
• Troubleshoot computing systems, networks, and applications to identify malfunctions and correct them, as well as other operational difficulties.
• Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that regulate network availability. Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions, and prepare minutes of discussion items.
• Plan and implement network security, including setting up firewalls, managing host security, applying cryptography to network applications, and regulating file permissions.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or technical degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3+ years of work experience in a Client/Server environment.
• CNE, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Cisco CCNA.
• Prior experience supporting, implementing, and/or administering networks such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE); Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA); Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Five+ years experience supporting, implementing, and/or administering networks such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory.
