Network Automation Engineer Intern (Summer 2023)
Job Description
At Dropbox the NRE role is a hybrid network and software engineering role. NREs are Software Engineers (SWE’s) focused specifically on the availability, durability, observability, latency, performance, and scalability/capacity of Network Infrastructure, as well as the overall toil required to operate our services.
NRE is not just about monitoring and protecting network services 24/7. It’s about improving those processes with system design, automation, tooling, and software development so that systems require less human intervention. NREs utilize this combination of software , systems and network engineering to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant networks.
NRE are responsible for and take the lead on reliability, automation, and other issues related to KTLO (Keeping The Lights On) in an organization. NREs are integrated with critical infrastructure teams and take part in developing software, maintaining it, and scaling it, whether for our end user-facing products or the underlying hardware infrastructure that allows us to deliver them.
- Build a central config management pipeline for Network Devices
- Build a Cloud Based Network Infrastructure using “IAC” infrastructure as code principles
- Build a Network Inventory Database
- Develop automation scripts for a self healing network
- Design and build systems to measure and alert on Network Performance
- Help build, scale, deploy, and support our global network and datacenter infrastructure.
- Contribute to the day to day support operation of the global Dropbox network.
- Help design and implement the next generation Network automation tool sets
- Contribute to planning of strategic initiatives and ensure organizational alignment in partnership with our key stakeholders.
- Help Drive our next generation of monitoring, alerting and automation tools to empower the teams
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience (graduating in/after Dec 2023)
- Experience writing or shipping software as part of coursework, personal projects, internships, coding competitions or research
- Passion for learning, solving problems, and challenging the status quo
- Available for Summer 2023 full time internship (40 hours per week / 12 weeks
