Job Description

Team: Legal

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a New England Policy Manager in United States.

This role plays a key part in shaping and advancing agricultural and land-use policy across the New England region, with a strong focus on farmland protection, farm viability, and sustainable agricultural practices. You will lead coalition coordination efforts, manage advocacy initiatives, and support multi-state policy strategy development in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders. The position combines policy analysis, legislative engagement, and hands-on coalition leadership, requiring both strategic thinking and field-level involvement. You will oversee the daily operations of a major advocacy coalition in Connecticut while contributing to broader regional policy work. The environment is mission-driven, collaborative, and deeply connected to agricultural communities and public policy impact. This is a highly dynamic role involving stakeholder engagement, event leadership, and direct support of legislative initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a Connecticut-based agricultural advocacy coalition, including agenda-setting, steering committee coordination, and policy prioritization.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, events, and initiatives such as lobby days, agricultural outreach events, farm tours, and annual convenings.
  • Develop and implement communications strategies including social media content, newsletters, advocacy materials, and stakeholder updates.
  • Conduct policy research and analysis on topics such as farmland protection, climate resilience, renewable energy siting, and agricultural land access across New England.
  • Draft policy documents, testimony, public comments, and advocacy communications to support legislative and regulatory initiatives.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities and maintain relationships with farmers, policymakers, coalition partners, and advocacy organizations.
  • Support regional event planning and execution, ensuring effective logistics, programming, and post-event evaluation.
  • Monitor legislative developments and provide strategic recommendations to guide advocacy priorities and decision-making.

  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in agricultural policy, conservation, land use, environmental policy, or related fields; or advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
    • Strong background in legislative advocacy, coalition building, or policy campaign management.
    • Experience working with agricultural communities and understanding of farmland protection, soil health, and food systems issues.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, projects, and policy priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex policy information into clear insights and recommendations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and policy writing.
    • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and collaborative work across diverse stakeholder groups.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom or Teams.
    • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable working independently within defined policy frameworks.
    • Ability to travel approximately 20% within the New England region and attend occasional evening or weekend events.
    • Residency within 90 minutes of Hartford, Connecticut is required.

    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary range of $75,000–$80,000 depending on experience.
      • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
      • Company-paid life insurance and long-term disability coverage.
      • Flexible spending accounts and health savings account options.
      • 401(k) retirement plan.
      • Generous paid time off including sick leave, vacation accrual, and multiple paid holidays.
      • Remote work arrangement with occasional in-person meetings and regional travel.
      • Professional development opportunities in policy, advocacy, and coalition leadership.
      • Mission-driven, collaborative work environment focused on agricultural sustainability and land conservation.
