As a casual employee in the Civil Systems Group you will be part of an experienced team of project managers, scientists and engineers working together to advance the mission area of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN). Specifically, you will support our team working directly with the NNSA/Space Nuclear Detonation Detection (SNDD) office to help them assess performance, risk, and future needs of space-based nuclear explosive detection to improve program performance and accountability. Your support will be instrumental in assessing hardware development efforts from Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs in support of its nuclear nonproliferation mission. This work is a critical part of the U.S. government's nuclear nonproliferation efforts and has relatively high visibility across the community.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Working closely with the Aerospace SNDD team as a programmatic and technical consultant to enable them to identify and assess issues, concerns, challenges, and solutions relevant to the SNDD program.
  • Communicate assessments (written and verbal) that provide information to decision makers in support of the SNDD program.
  • Reach back across Aerospace's Subject Matter Expert population to bring state of the art tools and approaches to the technical and systems engineering challenges of the program.
  • Represent the Aerospace Corporation to customers in both the NNSA and DOD at all working and management levels.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • BS degree from an accredited program in Project Management Physics, Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in R&D, systems analysis, and/or systems engineering
  • Experience working with U.S. government agencies such as DOD or DOE/NNSA/DNN
  • Comfortable working with, and reporting directly to, executive management and key stakeholders
  • Availability to travel domestically
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
