Online Area Operations Engineering Lead - Central Technology

As the Orchestration and Site Reliability Engineering Lead in our Central Technology organization, you will help develop services, orchestration systems, and site reliability frameworks to support current and future Bungie games at ever-increasing scale. You will collaborate with the Online and Central Tech Leadership Teams to identify risks and staffing needs to accomplish this. You will guide and serve the Online teams working on orchestration and site reliability. You will determine which investments to make by gathering requirements and building alignment among multiple game and operations stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guide the vision and strategy for centralized SRE and orchestration technologies; develop short and long-term plans and communicate progress studio-wide
- Join the Online Area Leadership Team and participate in rituals including standups, weekly lead syncs, and quarterly goals planning
- Directly manage managers, providing support, mentorship, constructive feedback, and career development coaching
- Effectively communicate with and inspire fellow engineers by building team alignment and buy-in on technology vision and architectural principles
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Ability to manage, coach, and mentor an engineering organization of 10+ people
- Ability to lead team building efforts through staff planning, morale, and ritual iteration
- Ability to work with teams to establish product vision and strategy
- Ability to translate broad product and business goals into sound technical solutions
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:
- Ability to architect distributed systems at scale
- Ability to build and operate cloud-hosted services
- Familiar with agile software development methodologies
- Familiar with Site Reliability Engineering principles
Most Bungie full-time employees will adopt a digital first approach allowing remote work in Bungie approved locations (outside of positions identified as 100% onsite in Bellevue/Seattle, or individuals preferring a hybrid/flex environment). Prospective full-time employees located outside of CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, MA, MD, MN, NC, NJ, NY, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, or WI will need to establish residency in one of the states we are compliant in within 45 days of a start date. Contractors will follow a digital first approach adhering to the location guidelines agreed upon by our third-party employer/vendor and Bungie. Bungie’s remote policy is subject to change at the company’s discretion.
