JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Operational Excellence Coordinator has responsibility for the development and sustainability of continuous improvement ideas and processes within the site. They are responsible for focusing on the process, embracing facts & data, and leading by example. This position will help drive the organization on a continuous journey of sustained improvement and support the culture of continuous improvement efforts that meet and exceed customer requirements. Partnering with other plant departments, the Operational Excellence Coordinator will be responsible for the identification and execution of initiatives within the plant.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Mentor/train operators in the use and practice of continuous improvement methodologies and tools. Assesses current processes and standard workflow and identify process improvement opportunities

Acts as a change agent by communicating changes to the employees and helping them to learn, understand, adjust and grow within the continuous improvement culture.

Support the organization's capability in knowledge and understanding of metrics and measurements which impact the total performance of the plant. This includes the Tier process and visual management.

Execute continuous improvement initiatives/projects/ideas in support of site objectives.

Solve manufacturing problems that have a variety of complex features and mitigating repeat events.

Participate in the execution of various value stream mapping, Focus Problem Solving, and Kaizen events.

Assist departments with creation of operator standard work.

Develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies that optimize safety, quality, efficiency, and overall site continuous improvement.

Support site departments in their 6S efforts. Assure areas are 6S sustainable through quarterly 6S Sustainability Reviews.

Support the facilitation of the Operational Excellence Site Maturity Assessment to gauge sustained improvements

Support the OpEx Specialists in daily activities/strategies supporting the continuous improvement culture at the site.

Work with outside vendors as needed to implement visual management, MOS and or Ideas.

• 1 year of demonstrated success in applying Continuous Improvement / OpEx tools.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing operations, business improvement, quality systems, or other areas related to project management.

• Working knowledge of improvement tools and methodologies
• Good functional computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel) preferred

• Demonstrated diplomacy and effective functioning and communication in a matrix environment.
• Ability to organize cross-functional teams and align team members to management's vision.
• Has excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to effectively participate in a team environment, adaptability to change, ability to manage competing priorities, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a sense of business savvy.
• Requires the ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
• Solicits the cooperation of a diverse group of disciplines and functions tactfully and persuasively.
