Summary of the role:

Help our Business Units in having stable services, accelerating their time-to-market and ensuring their compliancy with relevant internal (e.g.

governance bodies) and external (e.g.PCI-DSS) standards. Participate in the successful automation and execution of our DB related services

under the agreed end-user SLAs. The DB services includes all the operations related to the provisioning, maintenance and tuning of our DBs.

Responsible for supporting in tasks such as automation development, problem/incident management, capacity planning, release

management and performance tuning. Actively communicate/coordinate with soft ware developers, network engineers, system engineers,

storage engineers, project managers and database administrators on both daily tasks and on-going projects. Good communication and

teamwork are, therefore, extremely important. Participate in the 24x7 pager rotation in order to provide second tier on call support where the

DBaaS SRE will need to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly and effectively, sometimes under pressure.

In this role you'll:

  • Support an ultra-highly available hybrid cloud (private and public) platform providing services for hundreds of AMADEUS customers around
  • the world:
  • Provide timely DB services like deployment, patching and upgrading within project and PCI-DSS time limits.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issue in our platform/stack within our committed internal and customer Service Level
  • Agreements (SLAs)
  • Automate all Database as a Service (DBaaS) services
  • Continuously strive to automate all Database as a Service (DBaaS) services
  • Maintain and evolve the existing automation toward 100% automation
  • Add and maintain automation testing to detect/identify/fix faults early (e.g. molecule)
  • Add and maintain the documentation around our automation
  • Report on and automate any manual task required in our daily tasks and/or project implementations
  • Constantly evolve, update and upgrade our platforms:
  • Keep our stacks (HW/SW) up-to-date and compliant - Zero beyond end of life / support components.
  • Validate, test and facilitate the adoption of new features/technologies
  • Support more use cases (e.g. more cloud providers) which will give us flexibility of deployments and a better negotiation position
  • Constantly improve our automation to reach better SLAs for time-to-market, stability and reliability for our customers
  • Follow agreed processes and procedures:
  • Report achievements and breakdowns concerning daily tasks and on-going projects
  • Enforce agreed processes and guidelines among the team and among our end users
  • Follow guidelines and processes concerning both our technical governance as well as the working methodology

About the ideal candidate:

  • Education: 4-year University degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant technical experience in System administration/DevOps/SRE roles
  • 3+ years in platforms automation
  • General understanding of AMADEUS business areas and challenges is a plus
  • Computing experience: Linux (RHEL, SLES), Database (Oracle, MariaDB, Couchbase, MongoDB, Elasti c Search), Cloud
  • systems and Virtualization (OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, VMWare, KVM, Docker), Version control tools (e.g. Git), CI/CD
  • (e.g. Jenkins), Networks (Protocols, Load balancers, Firewalls, HTTP proxies ), Security (PCI-DSS, GDPR)
  • Programming Languages: Shell, Python, Perl, and Ansible (C++ and Java are a plus)
