Payroll Team Lead

Ownbackup is looking for a passionate, dedicated, and highly motivated Payroll Team Lead  to join our elite People team.

As part of the People team, this role leads a small team and will support and manage a variety of payroll and HR responsibilities, including payroll entry, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and process enhancement.

• Oversees one payroll specialist, who manages the US payroll process from start to finish: Review and analyze input of necessary data (timesheets, OT, expenses, commissions, bonuses, option exercises, etc.)
• Manages end-to-end non-US payroll, coordinating payroll activities with in-country HR teams
• Responsible for administering all year-end employee tax forms including but not limited to: W-2s, 1095cs, P11Ds, P60s, etc.
• Evaluates payroll implications of entering new countries, and implements systems and procedures to support payroll in those countries.
• Own and manage the relationship with third party payroll processors, both domestically and internationally
• Drive process improvement and automation efforts to streamline payroll operations across all countries
• Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Ensure all local, state, federal and international governmental requirements are met, such as taxes and withholdings
• Implement new regulations and policies and changes to benefits as applicable to payroll
• Implement efficiencies to improve payroll processing.
• Respond timely to payroll requests and resolve employee issues
• Ensure continuous development of payroll policies and standard operating procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
• At least 5 years of USA payroll experience
• At least 2 years of non-USA payroll experience (UK and France preferred)
• Experience with Workday payroll is preferred
• Strong knowledge of global payroll operations and multi-country payroll management
• Proven experience in team leadership and people management
• Analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and prioritization abilities

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. Travel may be required.
