Accountabilities:

In this role, you will provide comprehensive HR partnership across employee relations, organizational change, compliance, and people operations. You will serve as a trusted resource for leaders and employees while ensuring consistent application of employment policies and best practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the primary HR advisor for employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, accommodations, and performance management
  • Managing end-to-end employee terminations, preparing documentation, coordinating with legal partners when needed, and ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation
  • Advising managers on performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and progressive performance management processes
  • Administering employee leave programs, including medical, parental, disability, and statutory leaves, while coordinating return-to-work planning
  • Supporting organizational design initiatives, restructures, workforce planning, and change management efforts
  • Delivering and supporting company-wide HR programs such as performance reviews, employee engagement initiatives, and compensation cycles
  • Leveraging AI tools to streamline reporting, documentation, project management, and HR workflows while improving operational efficiency
  • Analyzing workforce data to identify trends, recommend process improvements, and support strategic HR decision-making
  • Collaborating with talent acquisition and cross-functional teams to support recruitment and onboarding during periods of business growth
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate combines strong HR expertise with exceptional employee relations experience and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Success in this role requires the ability to balance business objectives with employee advocacy while navigating complex situations with professionalism and sound judgment. Key qualifications include:

    • 5–7 years of progressive Human Resources Business Partner experience with significant employee relations expertise
    • Strong knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. employment law, including federal, provincial, state, and leave legislation
    • Demonstrated experience managing workplace investigations, performance management, employee terminations, accommodations, and sensitive HR matters
    • Experience administering leave of absence programs across multiple jurisdictions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust at all organizational levels
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential employee matters
    • Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and reporting
    • Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or Gemini to improve productivity and HR processes
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred
    • CPHR and/or SHRM certification considered an asset
    • Experience supporting organizational change, restructuring, or mergers and acquisitions is a plus
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary of $100,000–$120,000 USD for U.S.-based employees (or equivalent CAD range for Canadian employees), depending on experience and location
