People Operations Manager
Position Overview
Manager of People Operations is a key member of our OpenSesame People Team reporting to the Senior Director of People supporting HR objectives across the organization. This role is a combination of strategic and operational, responsible for daily support to our employees and leaders while implementing, utilizing, and evaluating processes and programs to support the growth of OpenSesame. This role will manage a People Operations Team that is responsible for human resource function and talent management in support of broader organizational growth objectives. Able to shift gears quickly, this role is personable, dynamic, analytical and results oriented. You will lead the delivery of program management for key HR functions, including HRIS/operations, employee relations, development programs, performance management, compensation, and compliance. You enjoy measuring results and scaling to serve our business as we grow while supporting our OpenSesame team members. This is a Remote position, with requirement of travel 2-3 times per year for full team company events.
Key Responsibilities
Manage HR Systems and Operations: Deliver best in class support throughout the employee life cycle ensuring every touch point is reflective of our culture and consistent with policies. Supporting recruiting team processes & documents: job descriptions, offer letters, drug/background checks. Supporting internal training and development functions: onboarding, mandatory training, management development, and our intern programs. Status changes in an employee lifecycle and ensuring all data entry has an audit point to preserve data integrity.
Oversee and Optimize: On/off-boarding, support payroll team & benefits administration, leave management, accommodations, employee documentation, handbooks/policies, performance management, employee relations, and additional efforts related to the employee experience. Compensation and benefits framework, benchmarking, and industry analysis.
Maintain Compliance Standards: Federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Collaboration and Support: Continually strive to improve our People processes and programs to enhance operational efficiencies to better streamline productivity and scalability. Serve as a business partner in supporting the business as it relates to our people, leaders, culture and organizational effectiveness. Collaborating with outside vendors (we currently work with ADP), upper management, executives, and employees to maintain our People Operations standards.
Performance Objectives
Within the first 30 days, you will familiarize yourself with Opensesame company, programs, HRIS system (ADP), compensation framework, and the metrics that we track. You will train on existing processes and begin taking over day-to-day tasks surrounding offer letters, drug/background checks, leaves of absence, etc. Your direct reports are responsible for day-to-day People operations tasks, internal development programs, and administration.
Within the first 60 days, you will take the lead and be the primary point of contact for your direct reports, employees and managers. You will be working closely with the Payroll, Recruiting, and Training teams, with the support of your manager.
Within 90 days, you will independently manage the day-to-day People Operations needs of the business.
Within 6 months, you will begin building a corporate People strategy, consistent execution of processes, and be making recommendations for improvement of our strategy, metrics and systems to continue to support our team and scale the business.
Within 1 year, you will be executing on major initiatives, including (but not limited to), HRIS implementation,
Performance Driven: We're looking for self-starters with a track record of delivering excellent results, but we're highly selective about who we hire. We don't focus on typical job requirements, instead, we're interested in specific examples from your past experiences. All positions can be based anywhere in the US and require up to 15 days of travel per year, with senior management and leadership teams requiring up to 35 days.
