The Senior Software Engineer- Backend Python will support the Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) organization from a systems level design and interactions of hardware and software components. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment based on program schedules, gain industry experience, and engage with both internal and external customers.
A successful candidate should be able to communicate technical issues and status both written and oral, be able to collaborate with teammates, be adaptable to change, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment.
Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of back-end software for the next generation of industry-leading information management products
- Work closely with software and systems teams to successfully design, develop, integrate, and maintain products that support a marketplace for the exchange of data for the aviation community
- Need prior experience with all phases of the secure software development life-cycle
- Familiarity with product security concepts, and ability to keep abreast with fast moving security industry
- Strong experience influencing teams on implementing all aspects of software development
- Participate as a member of an application development team using object-oriented programming (OOP) with open-source software
- Provide on-call engineering support, communicating directly with internal and external customers.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional Agile team for software development to deliver high quality solutions
- Strong experience with static and dynamic analysis tools, including findings analysis, defect triage, and related risk analysis
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience with Python development.
- Prior object-oriented software design and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the complete secure SDLC.
- Experience in web application development.
- Experience with one or more of the following: (listed in order of preference)
- Strong database and SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL) skills.
- Javascript and Angular
- Unix/Linux.
- Rapid development.
- Frameworks such as; REST, Web Services
- Experience with software and security engineering maturity and security risk evaluation models,
- Familiarity with Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL/SDLC) methodologies such as OWASP/SAMM
- Relational database integration, rapid/agile development methodologies, JavaScript, CSS.
