Summary

This National Guard position is for a Primary Prevention Specialist (Title 5), Position Description Number T0029P01 and is part of the JFHQ located in Draper UT, with the UTNG.

The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Ms. Annika Hunt.

Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTNG.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check(NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • Must be able to obtain required certifications, as applicable.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • This position is eligible to be in the union: Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA) Local 1776.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR
Four years of appropriate specialized experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS 9:
Have least 1 year specialized experience as a GS-0101-07? Must submit SF 50.
OR have at least 24 months experience (or 4 years to meet general experience) that equipped yourself with the particular knowledge of DoD or other government agency's programs in regard to sexual assault, domestic abuse, victim advocacy reporting options, directives, regulations, and/or implementing guidance.
  • Knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts
  • Knowledge of social-ecological systems theory
  • Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in program planning
  • Skill in development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local and community agencies
  • Skill in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and the marketing of programs
  • Knowledge of complex helping systems and professional organizations, how they positively or negatively affect individual and family welfare, and the multiple ways these systems and organizations operate to deliver services
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided
  • Knowledge of and skill in planning, conducting and evaluating Primary Prevention training programs
  • Knowledge of the regulations, policies, and precedents that are used for developing the action plans to implement approved prevention strategies
  • Ability to plan and adequately support the needs of National Guard members by determining what the future needs of the Service Member are through the interpretation and analysis of studies, and trends
  • Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the Prevention Programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures
  • Knowledge of automated data systems to maintain information
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques to identify, analyze and/or recommend solutions to problems encountered and to develop Statistical data and narrative reports

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Do you have least 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower GS-0101-11 grade level ? Must submit SF 50.

OR have at least 36 months experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position:
  • Knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts relating to family violence and abuse.
  • Knowledge of social-ecological systems theory.
  • Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in family violence and abuse prevention program planning.
  • Skill in development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with State, local, and community agencies.
  • Skill in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of family violence and abuse prevention programs, and the marketing of programs.
  • Knowledge of complex helping systems and professional organizations, how they positively or negatively affect individual and family welfare, and the multiple ways these systems and organizations operate to deliver services.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided.
  • Knowledge of and skill in planning, conducting and evaluating family violence and abuse prevention training programs.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, issues, etc., relating to the primary prevention of family violence and abuse (i.e., child abuse, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence)and the development of healthy behaviors, averting harm or abuse before it occurs.
  • Ability to plan and adequately support the needs of National Guard members by determining what the future needs of the Service Member are through the interpretation and analysis of studies, and trends.
  • Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the family violence and abuse prevention efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures.
  • Knowledge of automated data systems to maintain information.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques to identify, analyze and/or recommend solutions to problems encountered and to develop Statistical data and narrative reports.
