A Day in the Life

Recognized expert individual contributor that exercises considerable latitude in determining deliverables of Reliability Engineering assignments, with limited oversight from manager. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level test engineers and contributes to defining the direction for new products/processes/standards based on business strategy with a significant impact on Reliability Engineering deliverables. Responsible for entire projects/processes within job area. Contributes to the completion of Reliability Engineering objectives, through building relationships and consensus to reach agreements on assignments. Responsible for reliability of assigned subsystem or component. This would include test capability development, protocol development, test method development, preliminary failure analysis, test execution, data recording/reporting, data analysis/management, test status reporting/presentation. Supports planning inputs and leads engineering reviews. Performs data analysis and reporting/monitoring. Conducts development and qualification of methods, fixtures, platforms and software for reliability tests. This includes internal development activities as well as partnering with external vendors. Participate in subsystem level workflow testing simulating user experience and supports initial fault isolation activities. Ability to facilitate subsystem level workflow testing and training of test operators/facilitators. Ability to coordinate and schedule reliability testing in addition to budgeting/forecasting/procuring necessary supplies. Reports issues using established procedures/processes.

  • Tackle difficult/complex issues that require information gathering/analysis/investigation
  • Develop/implement solutions to complex problems, and makes significant improvements to processes, systems or products independently to enhance performance of reliability testing
  • Represent organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal customers and external vendors at various levels
  • Negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.
  • Provides guidance, coaching and training to other employees within Reliability Engineering
  • Manages complex projects involving delegation of work and at times act as a team leader
  • Master of a specialty area and full knowledge of industry practices, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience with broad knowledge of project management

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years of medical device engineering experience with roles showing increasing responsibility.
  • Direct experience in the field of Reliability Engineering
  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
  • Requires broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within assigned discipline.
  • Ability to compile and organize technical data using Excel, Word, Minitab and/or Access.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
