The Role:
Forge is investing in multi-channel delivery of private equity trading products. This creates opportunities for a technical leader to design centralized trading systems on cloud platforms. The role is for a strong technical leader to design trading systems and collaborate on the execution of their delivery, mentoring the teams that will own them.
The role’s initial responsibilities will entail embedding in the Forge’s Mid Office unit to nurture that nascent domain. Over time the role will expand to consider adjacent domains and shared platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience architecting distributed systems and navigating senior leadership, technology teams that own running systems, and product and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- As the Principal Engineer/Architect, Mid Office Enterprise Architecture and Platform Engineering, you will apply your strong software engineering and architecture skills to solve hard problems with no clear solutions
- Focus on Forge’s Middle Office capabilities (order entry, matching and execution, operations) and flex to shared platforms, technology governance, and adjacent capabilities
- You will mentor other engineers to help them be awesome and to design and implement the best solutions we can achieve
- You will have a bias for action with empathy and drive the resolution of difficult technical issues, dependencies, and questions
- You will lead architectural processes across the team and contribute to technical collaboration and governance with other technology and product areas to ensure end-to-end delivery that delights our customers
Qualifications:
- At least 15 years of experience working as a technical software engineering leader (architect, engineer, manager) or 13 years with an advanced degree
- Experience solving problems hands on and via collaboration and delegation to technical teams
- 7 years of experience in designing and developing distributed systems, big data systems, SaaS applications, or a combination thereof
- 3+ years of experience in Finance Services or similar regulated, multi-persona, event-driven domain
- Comfortable influencing, mentoring, communicating
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time in an office setting or in a home office setting while working
- Software Engineering – experience in Java/C# or similar Object-oriented programming language, experience in developing, deploying and operating distributed systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience architecting, engineering, delivering Financial Services systems, specifically trading or trading-adjacent systems
