We want engineers who are passionate about making the internet a better place! Kevel is a cloud-based service for building customizable, ad serving solutions quickly and easily. We are looking for a talented Principle Software Engineer with 5-10 years experience to join our Delivery team!
JOB OVERVIEW
The Delivery team is responsible for enhancements and maintenance of the core of Kevelâs main revenue stream - ad serving. The high throughput systems operate globally with low latency requirements, and the team strives for 100% uptime. This engineer will work with the team on modernizing the systems, improving reliability and robustness, while developing new features to gain new customers. There will also be a focus on improving the observability of the systems and approaches we are using to gather fast feedback on the performance of our service.LOCATION: US (East Coast) or UK or Portugal. This position is 100% remote. Applicants located anywhere within the US (East Coast), United Kingdom, or Portugal are encouraged to apply. COMPENSATION: The expected base salary compensation range for this position is $190,000 - $230,000 for US applicants. Kevel uses external, third-party market data to develop specific compensation amounts, which differ based on location and based on the experience level of each individual candidate. We use a similar approach to develop a range for international applicants based on available country-specific data. The full compensation package includes all the additional benefits as described in the 'Why you'll love working with us' section below. WHAT YOUâLL ACCOMPLISH:Â
- Evolve the core ad decision systems, including balancing and pacing, indexing, filtering, selection, and budgeting.
- Improve the platform's architectural qualities, helping ensure our foundation provides the scalability, reliability, security, and performance our global customers require.
- Work closely with the product management team to help design and build new features.
- Help provide operational oversight for the platform, making sure we are up and running 24/7.
- Work closely with our customer success teams to deliver value and drive growth.
SKILLS YOUâLL BRING WITH YOU:Â
- Experience evolving and developing complex globally distributed systems in the cloud with low latency, high availability and low infrastructure costs.
- Experience migrating and working with legacy code.
- Experience working in AdTech on ad serving, pacing and delivery.
- Experience working with Product and Technical team members to identify ways of delivering value incrementally to production.
- Experience improving feedback loops through testing and simulation.
- High volume or high throughput HTTP-based API experience, including experience profiling and optimising services (on nodejs and jvm runtimes) to increase performance and lower latency.
- Programming experience in functional languages or specific experience with NodeJS, JVM, Clojure/Clojurescript or Rust.
- Amazon Web Services experience, including EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Kinesis, EFS, Redshift, SQS, Lambdas, and CloudFormation.
- Experience being on call and improving monitoring and alerting functionality.
