The Automations Squad is looking for an experienced Architect with a proven track record of creating technologies and tools for scaling the processing of 100’s of millions of automated jobs per day within ClickUp. Working with the Automations team, you will be focused on architecting for Performance, Scale, and Reliability of our Automations. In the past, you have architected and built automated workflows at scale and divided up the work amongst the team to deliver incremental improvements that will get us to a highly scalable and performant automation workflow experience.
 
The ideal candidate has experience writing, running, and maintaining async job frameworks at cloud scale. You should be comfortable with cloud-native solutions, especially AWS. Have you built a low code/no-code /pro code platform that allows users to create and run complex workflows? Do you love to mentor engineers, and share architectures and roadmaps with others?

The Workflow Management architecture features the following functions:
  • Allow ClickUp Users to run sophisticated automated workflows using ClickUp tasks, forms, docs, folders, lists, and more.
  • Provide a single portal and user experience across all these workloads for business visibility and transparency.
  • Orchestrate calls to other services and systems for increased automation through our integrations.
  • Capture operational data from the execution of these workflows to feed management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and dashboards, and derive business insights.
  • Provide DevOps capabilities to manage and quickly deploy changes to workflows for greater business agility and for meeting required governance and compliance objectives.
Role:
  • Collaborate with teams and other architects to develop end-to-end performance engineering strategies and approaches.
  • Provide technical recommendations for system performance measurement and analysis, scalable architecture, and profiling/troubleshooting techniques.
  • Actively evaluate tools, frameworks, and technologies geared towards workflow automations.
  • Analyze performance results and troubleshoot to identify bottlenecks and potential optimizations.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication, flexibility, teamwork and leadership.
 
Qualifications:
  • Has built a low code / no code /pro code platform for Automations/workflows
  • Has architected and built workflow engines at scale
  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10+ years of experience working on workflow automation or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems, OLTP systems, cloud DevOps.
  • Solid understanding of Cloud technologies as well as hands on experience working with a public cloud (preferably AWS).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Built scalable systems within AWS using NodeJS.
  • Understanding of software architecture to help software developers to leverage the platform with reliability.
  • A passion for driving continuous improvement through spotting opportunities and seeking the views of others.
  • The ability to listen to different perspectives, evaluate, persuade and carefully shape your work to deliver truly impactful results.
  • A can-do attitude and you drive to overcome obstacles, acting with a sense of urgency because you’re passionate about what you do.
