Principal Engineer Manager

Azure Resource Manager (ARM) is Azure's unified control plane through which customers manage their Azure resources. It is the front door to all Azure cloud resources (compute, storage, networking, SQL, etc.) and a unique platform that services all API requests to Azure and implements platform wide features that make Azure scalable, operable, and consistent for users to interact with.
The ARM platform itself is implemented on top of Azure cloud technologies such as Virtual Machine Scale Sets, Storage, Cosmos DB, Load balancers, Redis caches, and more), exposing you to the latest and greatest cloud computing principles.
With Azure's tremendous growth and the significant importance of ARM, this position also carries the accountability of ensuring ARM is always available (99.99%), globally distributed and can scale easily & quickly during periods of high traffic (and can also scale down to minimize cost vice versa). This is a high visibility position with the opportunity for significant impact.Responsibilities

• Drive architecture, design, and implementation of our services with simplicity, maintainability, and security as core tenants.
• Bring clarity, create energy, and drive results - set a vision, rally the team behind it, and deliver for our engineers and customers.
• Plan and prioritize work for your team, while collaborating deeply with other engineering organizations at Microsoft.
• Build a data-driven team that uses metrics & KPIs to identify core areas of investment to enable our engineers to be more productive.
• Demonstrate the Microsoft manager attributes of coach, model, and care with the engineers on your team so they all learn, grow, and succeed.
• Create an inclusive environment that attracts and retains high-performing engineers.
• Constantly learn and grow as an engineer and an engineering leader.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

• 10+ years of industry experience as Software Engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Equivalent
• Strong experience with C# and Java
• 4+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineering Manager

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing diverse teams
• 6+ years hands-on demonstrated experience in-depth knowledge of distributed systems application development
• Experience with asynchronous coding patterns
• Experience in debugging and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with distributed systems and REST APIs
