Principal Engineer Manager

Azure Resource Manager (ARM) is Azure's unified control plane through which customers manage their Azure resources. It is the front door to all Azure cloud resources (compute, storage, networking, SQL, etc.) and a unique platform that services all API requests to Azure and implements platform wide features that make Azure scalable, operable, and consistent for users to interact with.
The ARM platform itself is implemented on top of Azure cloud technologies such as Virtual Machine Scale Sets, Storage, Cosmos DB, Load balancers, Redis caches, and more), exposing you to the latest and greatest cloud computing principles.
With Azure's tremendous growth and the significant importance of ARM, this position also carries the accountability of ensuring ARM is always available (99.99%), globally distributed and can scale easily & quickly during periods of high traffic (and can also scale down to minimize cost vice versa). QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

• 10+ years of industry experience as Software Engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Equivalent
• Strong experience with C# and Java
• 4+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineering Manager

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience managing diverse teams
• 6+ years hands-on demonstrated experience in-depth knowledge of distributed systems application development
• Experience with asynchronous coding patterns
• Experience in debugging and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with distributed systems and REST APIs

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
