The Azure Machine Learning team builds the product and platform that powers the most demanding workloads at Microsoft like Office, Bing, and Cognitive Services as well as accelerating the digital transformation of customers on Azure using state of the art deep learning scenarios like computer vision and natural language processing as well as traditional machine learning scenarios like forecasting and classification at scale. We focus on enabling AI agility using Azure Container for PyTorch (ACPT) with optimizations libraries like DeepSpeed, ONNX Runtime, improve training efficiencies with techniques like Low Rank Adaption (LoRA).
We're looking for a Principal Product Manager who can help define and deliver platform capabilities to scale AI workloads from research to production. This Principal Product Manager would have a keen desire to help Machine Learning (ML) Professionals to operationalize AI solutions at scale. The ideal candidate will be someone who has has demonstrated customer obsession, and the ability to create clarity in highly ambiguous situations. You will also need to be able to challenge assumptions and create consensus for a product path to help us become the best ML platform in the world. In this role you will have the opportunity to represent the public face of AI at Microsoft across the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Partners with the engineering team to contribute, prioritize, and deliver on the roadmap for multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service). Understands the value proposition for the multiple feature areas and answers technical questions on the multiple feature areas they own.
- Understands and starts to build experiences across multiple groups or divisions.
- Collaborates with others to track, coordinate, and communicate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., epics, sprint/semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service).
- Helps track and manage dependencies to enable cohesive, connected user scenarios, and to identify potential risk areas and escalate appropriately. Makes adjustments or course corrections when projects are not aligned to schedules or goals.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing and shipping complex products for developers, ML professionals, or similar
- 3+ years of experience with distributed platform ecosystem (multi-tenant / real-time processing, batch computing etc.)
Background Check Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating solutions using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
- Experience writing Python, particularly for machine learning
- Experience with ML platforms
- Effective at driving complex multi-stakeholder processes and cross-team programs
- Ability to build effective relationships, influence and collaborate at all organizational levels
- Verbal and written communications skills for a global audience
- Business acumen, analytical and detail oriented
Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
