Scope and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to play a critical role in the growth of the Product Creation solution landscape. These solutions provide the tools needed to build world class product.

In this role, you will provide direction and technical guidance on the most complex coding/development, configuration, and implementation efforts. The position works with multiple partners to solve business problems and communicate strategic vision that spans technical disciplines and aligns to Technology priorities. You will be a technical leader within Product, providing feature implementations, leadership, mentoring, serving to provide insight and support. You will facilitate discussions and vet technical solutions both with members of their own development team and across multiple domains. You will spend ~50% of your time directly on development activities.

The successful candidate is a proven leader with excellent communication and relationship building skills in addition to current, hands-on coding skills. You will be encouraged to tap into your expertise to influence the broader organization's strategy.

The ideal candidate will anticipate future needs of the Product Creation businesses and drive solutions to those challenges. We are looking for a technical leader who is comfortable implementing solutions and someone who can think broadly to solve unique and complex problems that have broad impact on the Nike's business. You should be able to persuade a multi-functional group of peers to adopt proposed solutions and prioritize accordingly. Most importantly you must have the depth of knowledge, experience, and passion to deliver solutions that amaze our consumers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • Minimum of 8 years of software development experience
  • Solid skills in team leadership and building positive relationships across Product and Engineering
  • Ability to influence outcomes across loosely coupled teams in a large enterprise
  • Experience with IAAS/PAAS offerings from AWS, Azure, or Google (AWS Preferred). Experience in NoSQL data stores, such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with modern SPA frameworks (Agular2+, React, Vue.js) a plus but not required.
  • Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, observability, and automated integration tests.
  • Experience with Product Line Management tools or Product Creation processes is preferred.
  • Ability to define solution options, provide estimates on effort and risk, and evaluate technical feasibility of complex problems.
  • Comfortable acting as the voice of the engineer in product focused conversations to ensure a commitment to technical quality, scalable solutions, and maintainable code. Experience leading engineering teams and driving solution design through code reviews, design sessions, and mentorship of other engineers.
  • Practical approach to solving complex problems with ambiguous requirements
