Marqeta is the originator and market leader of Modern Card Issuing. A key part of what differentiates Modern Card Issuing from Legacy Issuing is our best in class customer experience powered by Marqeta Dashboard, our powerful web-based app. Legacy card issuing runs on tech built decades ago on mainframes -- clunky, slow and very manual, oftentimes with no associated UI. With Marqeta Dashboard, our customers and partners log in every day to run their payments infrastructure including issuing virtual, physical and tokenized cards, managing customer card transactions, disputes, card tokens, settlement, and viewing & visualizing reports. All of this in a unified and modern web application.

We have built the foundation of this differentiated customer experience in Marqeta Dashboard and now we are focusing on meeting new scale demands,  resiliency and significantly expanding the product capabilities of the dashboard to support more advanced use cases like risk decision management, new payments workflows and embeddable apps.

• Lead strategic and complex initiatives with clear impact for Marqeta as a whole
• Deliver high quality, impactful technical contributions to achieve broad company goals
• Optimize application platform tools and infrastructure to support high velocity development
• Level up individuals and teams
• Drive and influence the technical direction of engineering teams to ensure company success
• Represent engineering to cross-functional peers across the company
• Provide insights and technical expertise across a variety of technical areas
• Be a technical leader for all teams working to build world-class, well-engineered experiences that meet the needs of our customers

• Significant software development experience, including 10+ years of experience in product web UI application development
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience, such as being an architect or tech lead for high impact customer facing products
• A proven record of software engineering with strong capabilities in JavaScript, React, Node.js and their ecosystems
• Experience mentoring senior engineers
• Experience developing and optimizing build & deploy systems for JavaScript heavy applications - Webpack, CI/CD pipeline tools
• Experience with developing and supporting cloud architecture for resilient frontend applications

• Experience working in payments or a highly regulated industry
• Experience with AWS
• Experience working with authz/authn, especially for SPAs
• Experience working with databases, MySQL preferred 
• Experience scaling applications
• Experience in incident management
• Experience working in a monorepo environment
• Exposure to tools we use for our Java backend stack including Spring Boot and Kubernetes on AWS
