We're looking for a Principal Software Engineering Lead to help us build the next generation gaming ecosystem for both gamers and creators.

The Gaming Store Experiences team within Gaming Ecosystem Organization is looking for a Principal Software Engineering Lead to drive product development in a variety of Shopping and Gaming facing experiences. We are seeking someone who is eager to learn and grow in their career as they deliver gaming related software and experiences.

You'll work closely with your team, other engineering leaders, as well as program management and design in an agile environment. You will develop modern gaming ecosystems in support of future gaming growth. Expect to leverage industry leading standards including JavaScript, REACT/REDUX, C#, C++ and other cutting-edge technology.

Microsoft is uniquely positioned to accelerate the game industry's transformation to cloud-based gaming, thanks to decades of experience developing category-defining titles (Halo, Forza, Minecraft, Flight Simulator), operating our Xbox gaming platform and delivering the Azure global cloud infrastructure, which features pre-built gaming services.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in development of medium and long-term product roadmaps
  • Manage team planning, execution, and delivery month over month
  • Collaborate effectively with partners and peers to develop solutions
  • Drive significant feature design and development across applications, client web and server technology stacks
  • Investigate, diagnose, and fix product issues in development & production
  • Provide quality code review feedback
  • Deliver and manage the delivery of quality, testable & code in a production setting
  • Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or ReactJS/Redux
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years people managing experience in software engineering environment
  • 3+ years of e-Commerce experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or ReactJS/Redux
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or ReactJS/Redux
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with developing, delivering and operating public facing application and/or services
  • 3+ years of experience with application user experience development
  • Experience developing web applications in a standards-based web environment
  • Experience with application user experience development
  • Experience with back-end or microservices development
  • Kubernetes and containers familiarity

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
