Simple Technology Solutions is looking for a Principal Systems Architect to add to our team.
Quick Position Overview:
- US Citizenship is required
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
- minimum of 10 years' of software development lifecycle (SDLC) experience
The Role:
In this role, you will work with an amazing team of engineers, on the EED-3 program, that supports NASA Earth Science (ESDIS) in its mission to provide scientists and other users access to data from NASAâs Earth science missions. More specifically, you will be working with the CUMULUS team. CUMULUS deals with archiving and dissemination of EOSDIS data collections in the Cloud.âŻÂ As a Principal Systems Architect and a member of CUMULUS, you will lead the deployment of product updates, identify production issues and implement integrations that meet customer needs.
The Principal Systems Architect at STS will:
- Build and implement new development tools and infrastructure in the cloud
- Understand the needs of stakeholders and conveying them to developers
- Work on ways to automate and improve development and release processesÂ
- Test and examine code written by others and analyzing resultsÂ
- Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threatsÂ
- Identify technical problems and developing software updates and fixesÂ
- Work with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intendedÂ
- Plan projects and being involved in project management decisionsÂ

Education and Experience:
Required
- Bachelorâ degree in a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, and 10 years of software development lifecycle (SDLC) experience.
- US Citizenship
- Expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including compute, storage, and data services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDSÂ
- Hands on VMware experienceÂ
- Expertise with using Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline automation platforms (Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity) to automate building, testing, and deploying of software products.Â
- Proficient with Git and GitHub workflowsÂ
- Red Hat Administration experience
- Experience working in Lean Agile/ Scrum methodologies.Â
- Knowledge of relationship databases and SQLÂ
- Must be able to work the hours of 8am-5pm Eastern Time regardless of your home locationÂ
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.Â
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).Â
- Experience presenting at technical conferencesÂ
- âŻRequires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.Â
- May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems. âŻ
