The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Insurance Product Development Director for one of our office locations to include San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Tampa, FL, Chesapeake, VA, or Charlotte, NC. This leader will be responsible for leading and driving enhancements of our current Property portfolio of products.

This position is a hybrid work type and will be based from one of the office locations listed above. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds - collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

This leader will also be accountable for developing new products, overseeing and managing the launch and maturation of new products into target strategic markets. Acting as a cross functional expert, this position provides expertise and support for product line initiatives related to product development, compliance, operational and process improvements, claims management, vendor management, product documentation, fulfillment, and/or system releases.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Be responsible for development of digital first products supporting the needs and risks of USAA Members
  • Lead development and launch of new innovative product offerings as well as auxiliary/enhanced features/services for existing products.
  • Develop recommendations to launch new products and the evaluation and decision to buy/build or ally for individual product(s).
  • Generate creative product and coverage solutions for member needs to ensure a dynamic product development pipeline exists.
  • Be responsible for maintaining thorough level of knowledge of business and underwriting performance for products in scope (e.g., trends, results, etc.)
  • B responsible for post-launch monitoring, maintenance and underwriting of "new in market" products based on product performance, member needs and competitive changes in the market including but not limited to product rules, rates, and forms.
  • Conduct complex analysis of internal and external data and member information to support formulation of product strategy and enhance competitive intelligence.
  • Develop and communicates the new product value proposition for individual products.
  • Ensure sales support is delivered to all distribution channels (e.g., .com, mobile, contact center) so that the new product is properly positioned to members.
  • Lead the analysis and evaluation of new product performance metrics to make changes to offerings, if necessary, prior to full launch
  • Coordinate with relevant control partners (to include Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management) to ensure product offerings are designed and implemented in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Statistics, or related discipline; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required, for a total of 12 years) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years relevant experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, Financial Services, or relevant military experience.
  • Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and supporting product and/or integrated suite of products.
  • Experience working through agile product development process, managing multiple products simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and application of Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).
  • A creative problem solver with hands on experience in problem framing, qualitative & quantitative research, running product experiments, hypothesis testing and prototyping to launch products at the intersection of Human, Technology and Business dimensions.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguous contexts with confidence. Ability to break large complex initiatives into smaller manageable features and capabilities and deliver them early and often.

What sets you apart:

  • P&C insurance product management or development experience
  • P&C insurance designation(s) (i.e., CPCU, ARM etc.) obtained.
  • Successful track record of driving solutions through a highly matrixed environment
  • Experience working independently with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to communicate complex solutions to all levels of management.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $115,240 - $207,430

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
