About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a Product Growth Lead reporting to our VP of Strategy.
The Product Growth Lead will be responsible for researching and validating markets for new products, features and business lines. This role will work closely with various teams across the organization to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs of our customers and develop services that Ontra can offer to meet those needs. This person must be able to effectively understand the research questions being presented, break those questions down into their component pieces, formulate a research plan, execute against that plan, analyze the research findings, and present those findings to the VP of Strategy.

What you'll do
  • Research & Development: Communicate with stakeholders to understand our customers' problems and developing and implementing solutions to drive value for the business
  • Analysis, Synthesis, and Presentation: Develop deep customer-centric research, analyzing that research, synthesizing the findings, and presenting those findings to leadership, enabling leadership to make well-founded product and business development decisions
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with stakeholders across multiple functions within the organization in the process of identifying and launching business opportunities
  • Innovation: Display a desire and ability to recognize areas of opportunity and improvement and capitalize on them

What you'll bring
  • Background: 2+ years of experience in strategy consulting or market research; a validation background is a plus
  • Market Research: Proven track record of conducting deep market research and analyzing research findings in the service of developing a view on a specific market segment. Effective presentation / communication skills are critical (ability to use powerpoint / Google Slides is a must)
  • Understanding of customer development: A deep desire and competency in reaching out to strangers, speaking to strangers, understanding their problems and needs, and figuring out how to translate those needs into a service and/or product that Ontra can sell
  • Analytical: Ability to use data and analytics to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs of the target markets, quantify those needs, and translate those needs into a service that Ontra can sell profitably. Excel skills are a must.
  • Proactive/Low maintenance: Ability to operate with low levels of oversight; self-directed
  • Strategic: Ability to work closely with product leadership in making recommendation about features / verticals to pursue
  • Speed: Fast mover who can quickly understand the research needs of the organization, formulate a plan to address those needs, and develop a view on the required answer
  • Teamwork: Ability to communicate with and work across multiple Ontra teams including sales, marketing, product, legal partnerships, and account management to help the company determine which verticals to enter and how

Pay transparency
Ontra publishes salary ranges on our salary board here: https://bit.ly/3UjAOE3, which currently includes estimated annual cash salary ranges for candidates based in Colorado and New York City, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ontra leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
Ontra factors in your location when benchmarking compensation for most roles. If you are not located in Colorado or New York City and have been selected to participate in our interview process, we encourage you to speak with your recruiter about compensation for the role during an initial conversation.
In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
