Director level role supporting U.S. Field property development. Reporting through the field, a technical resource responsible for training and business development for U.S. property field staff, collaborating with home office property Risk Control leadership, and supporting the tactical execution of Risk Control property risk evaluation and mitigation strategies in Field operations.
Recognized as a technical expert in the property product line. Individual contributor responsible for business results through delivery of risk control services within the property area. Works within the broadest limits of authority requiring the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination. Drives risk control expertise for the most complex risks and supports the underwriting decision making process. Has a large geographic span that includes the United States.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Engages with underwriting to support corporate strategies for property lines of business.
Optimizes distribution engagement, strengthening relationships with agents and brokers to provide customer solutions.
Analyzes risk control strengths and weaknesses to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Aligns with United States and global risk control strategies to positively impact loss ratios, new business goals and retention requirements to achieve profitability targets.
Supports territory with technical expertise to ensure consistent ongoing organizational learning, development, and advancement of industry expertise and specialization.
Works across the BUs to review and direct the evaluation and assessment of property risks for Standard and Shared/Layered lines. Applies risk control policies, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and drives the resolution of critical risk control issues.
Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external business partners. Known expert among Risk Control staff and CNA partners within the industry, actively shaping new industry relationships.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Excellent communication, negotiation, decision making and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners. Senior level technical and business management acumen and knowledge of insurance, risk management principles, practices and procedures. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple projects and teams. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business situations. Ability to achieve results, at the portfolio level, by taking a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the industry, LOB or segment needed for CNA's portfolio. Ability and willingness to travel.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree with Masters preferred or equivalent experience with professional designation(s) needed for the industry, segment or LOB being represented.
2. Typically, a minimum of ten years of risk control experience.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In California, Colorado, Connecticut, New York and Washington, the standard base pay range for this role is $78,500 to $301,400 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
