The Opportunity

This position works out of our locations in the Rapid Diagnostics division. We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott's diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people. Our rapid diagnostics solutions are helping address some of the world's greatest healthcare challenges.

The Product Owner works to fulfill the strategic product direction established by the Product Management team. They must have a solid understanding of the business processes and project needs to provide a solution that meets the needs of multiple types of users. They are responsible for defining the detailed requirements for the project. They work closely with development on the specifications to ensure their Agile team has all of the information they need to deliver a complete product to market.

What You'll Work On
  • Work with the Product Manager and Agile team to define the scope included in a project
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes
  • Get answers for the team to clarify details as they are developing the application
  • Serve as the voice of the business for the Scrum team to ensure requested features are clearly understood.
  • Work with the agile team to prioritize the backlog and prioritize support work as needed
  • Manage dependencies in and across sprints and releases
  • Perform demos to all stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Keep stakeholders apprised of progress and incorporate their feedback
  • Provide backlog grooming and elaboration of the user stories to help with sprint planning.
  • Participate with the Scrum Team on sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Problem solve to ensure best solutions are delivered.
  • May occasionally write formal business requirements for projects using a waterfall SDLC.
  • Ensure that compliance, security and regulatory requirements are met on all projects.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma required
  • Typically has 4 + years' experience in Agile Product Development or Business Analysis
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Possess the ability to communicate, across all levels of organization, with diplomacy and tact, including when responding to resistance
  • Should have excellent organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead team and product improvement with collaboration and transparency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Four-year degree from accredited college or university preferred
  • Typically has 4 + years' experience in Agile Product Development or Business Analysis
  • Prior drug testing, healthcare, medical device or other related industry experience preferred
  • Experience with TFS/Azure, or other SDLC management software preferred
  • Experience assessing value and prioritizing a backlog preferred
  • Experience with product and/or software development life cycle preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles through certifications
