About Yahoo Mail Production Engineering (Mail PE)
The Mail engineering team builds industry leading Mail platforms and integrates with almost every Yahoo product in the company. We build and maintain platforms at scale and ensure that Yahoo Mail is always able to serve its hundreds of millions of users and billions of daily transactions.
Using a combination of open source software and developing our internal tools, we engineer automated solutions for daily operations, auto scaling, auto remediation, failure detection/predictions and performing frequency changes with running thousands of hardware and nodes non-interrupted. We encourage new ideas and continuously experiment and evaluate new technologies to assimilate them into our infrastructure. Your Day

• Design, develop, code and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products; revise and refine as required
• Participate in agile development of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing and ongoing support of systems
• Recommend modifications to processes and procedures, and contribute to best practices, architecture, and implementations
• Promote and solicit ideas within project teams

You Must Have

• Actively pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related major, and strong record of academic achievement
• Knowledge of software engineering processes, tools (programming proficiency in a language, preferably Java, Go, C/C++, methods, test development, support, algorithms and data structure)
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts, large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed systems, and UNIX/Linux environments
• Experience in one or many of the following is a plus:
• Large-scale, large-user base website development experience
• Security
• Internship experience at a tech company

If hired for this position in Colorado, the compensation range for this position is between $79,500.00 - $132,500.00. The compensation may vary depending on your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include additional incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, plus equity incentives.
