JOB DESCRIPTION:
Abbott Medical Devices, with revenue of >$14B in 2021, is a global leader in providing life changing technology for the management and treatment of people living with chronic conditions including Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, Chronic Pain, and Movement Disorders.
The Program Manager, Digital Solutions will work out of the Sylmar, CA, Santa Clara, CA or Plano, TX location reporting to the Head of Technology, Digital Solutions in Abbott Medical Devices. The Program Manager will work with cross-functional teams to plan, develop, and commercialize state of the art Digital Health technologies supporting our patients and customers. The Program Manager will lead/manage programs of small to medium scope, or a significant subsection of a large program. They will provide leadership to a cross-functional team to develop and execute plans for commercialization of new digital products. Works cross-functionally with core team and functional managers to ensure that projects meet objectives and timelines.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Leadership and Accountability
- Overall accountability for program execution, typically Digital Health programs, some of which might need Regulatory approval.
- Report team progress and recommendations and resolution at senior staff meetings
- Represents the entire cross-functional team to the organization
- Provide leadership to the team by working to define clear, realistic goals. Leads by example with excellent diligence, planning, analysis, and communication
- Ensure that the cross functional members work as a "team" focused on divisional goals
- Provide guidance to core team members on management techniques
- Identify and help clear barriers to maintain effective and timely progress
- Project Budget management
- Lead responsibilities including potential of direct reports
Project Management
- Lead activities across numerous functions to meet the objectives of a given program including scope, budget, and schedule.
- Lead core teams towards program objectives
- Communicates with all levels of the organization, from engineers to the President in order to represent the objectives, risks, and needs for the program.

- Able to drive both non-medical device and medical device software programs appropriately.
- Establish and maintain appropriate program and product documentation process.
- Develop comprehensive program plans, which identify objectives, strategy, risks/risk mitigation, budget, effort estimates and schedule.
- Identifies opportunities for improving overall business performance of the program.
- Develops plans with core members to eliminate and/or mitigate risk. If risks cannot be mitigated within the core team, determines appropriate means to communicate and elevate issues to appropriate individuals within the organization.
- In partnership with the Director, identifies opportunities for improving overall performance of the program.
- Provides guidance to core team members to assist in resolving conflicts and clearing barriers to maintain effective and timely progress towards project completion. Represents the core team to the organization, and reports team progress, project recommendations and issue resolution at senior staff meetings. Maintains the overall project plan and schedule for the core team to ensure project meets divisional goals.
- Facilitate all core team meetings. Issue agendas and minutes. Track progress against the project plan, business plan, project contract, and action items.
- Resolve conflicts within and outside the team
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the project environment
- 7 years relevant experience
- Extensive experience with project management and general business principles
Preferred:
- PMP Certification, Agile Training/Certification - e.g. Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- Experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE)
- Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in Digital Health
- Experience leading projects in a medical device, biomedical or high technology industry. Digital health development experience is highly desirable.
- Previous experience managing development teams and/or programs in the medical device industry is preferred
- Previous experience managing R&D development programs in mid-cap to large-cap MedTech company is preferred.
- Takes initiative, Drives innovation and change. Proven ability to manage to plan and resolve issues. Effectively clarify issues and actions
- Polished communicator- written documentation and oral presentations/ discussions/ meetings.
- Excellent reputation for building relationships across various levels of an organization.
- Project management tools including MS project, excel, and power point

$104,300 - $208,500
