Job Description
Project Manager (Bridges / Heavy Civil) – Site Based
Salary Range: $140,000 – $160,000
Location: British Columbia & project sites across Canada
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex bridge and heavy civil infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Director, Project Management, this role is responsible for all aspects of project planning, execution, monitoring, control, and close-out.
This is a site-based leadership role requiring extended travel and time spent at construction sites throughout British Columbia and across Canada.
About the Role
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in:
- Highway and remote-access industrial bridges
- Pile driving operations
- Marine and land-based infrastructure
- Contract interpretation and risk management
- Leading site teams while maintaining strict budget and schedule control
This individual must understand on-site crew culture while maintaining focus on safety, quality, cost control, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and manage all aspects of the project contract
- Develop and execute project budgets, schedules, and execution plans
- Assess and manage project risks
- Provide overall administrative and technical direction
- Maintain safety standards across all project activities
- Oversee procurement processes and subcontractor selection
- Monitor project progress, costs, and reporting compliance
- Implement and manage change orders and scope modifications
- Negotiate change orders with clients
- Manage and lead site teams including Superintendents, Project Coordinators, Safety Coordinators, and Quality Coordinators
- Advise executive leadership on project performance and results
- Resolve disputes with clients and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operating procedures
- Foster a strong team culture and continuous improvement mindset
Qualifications & Experience
- 10–15+ years of experience as a Project Manager in heavy civil or bridge construction
- Experience in cost estimating and construction management
- Strong contract interpretation skills
- Experience reporting to senior and executive leadership
- Proven ability to manage complex, deadline-driven projects
- Post-secondary education is an asset but not required
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of legal and technical contract components
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
- Customer-focused mindset
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and field reporting tools (e.g., BIS Safety)
- Experience with AI-enabled tools is considered an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours and extended schedules as required
