JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager- Engineering is a motivated self-starter who is able to work both independently and closely with management and engineering teams. Working closely with Team Leaders and Team Members the Project Manager will plan and organize technical initiatives from conception to completion. As a critical member of several engineering teams, the Project Manager will drive initiatives forward planning projects consistent with a stage gate process, organizing the work flow, and holding engineering personnel accountable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Defines, organizes and maintains project planning, management, timelines, and task management
  • Able to effectively plan, communicate, and conduct project meetings, to meet project objectives
  • Help champion and coach teams in following a new product development process
  • Drives tasks to closure by holding team members accountable
  • Keeps Team Leaders, management, and critical stake holders informed
  • Facilitates cross team/department communications
  • Supports the project team in establishing the sequential steps involved in all processes with the scope of the project, and adapts schedules and work tasks accordingly utilizing shared resources across teams
  • Generates Engineering Change Requests, ECRs, RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, etc. from generalized input, using Cues database system
  • Generates engineering redline documentation to support ECRs using Adobe Acrobat X Pro or other markup software
  • Provide reports as needed/requested to management, including financial, status, progress, etc
  • Coordinate and manage procurement and delivery of both outsourced services, and internal departments, of materials and services such as prototype parts, development services, etc
  • Coordinate and participate in continuous improvement projects and special projects as assigned
  • Create test plans and documents results

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Organizational and Leadership skills
  • Experience with stage gate new product development including project definition, scheduling, tracking and execution
  • Knowledge of standard business software products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
  • Project management experience in a product development environment for manufactured products
  • Prefer experience covering mechanical, electronic and firmware
  • Familiarity with Teamwork or MS Project
  • AutoCAD Inventor / Solidworks or similar CAD viewing software skills
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and document control
  • Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to adjust to changes
  • Ability to learn company specific software as needed or required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in an engineering technical discipline or similar background
  • 5+ years Engineering experience required
  • Minimum 2 years as a project manager preferred
  • Project management certification (PMP) preferred
