Job Summary
The Reinsurance Financial Reporting Accountant reports to the Manager, Reinsurance Financial Reporting. The Reinsurance Financial Reporting Accountant will help perform various duties to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of complex reinsurance transactions and reinsurance subsidiary companies. This includes preparing audited GAAP and local regulatory financial statements and assisting with monthly/quarterly financial statement close activities. This position reports to the Manager, Reinsurance Financial Reporting
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of audited GAAP and local regulatory financial statements for the company’s reinsurance subsidiaries
- Assists with the monthly/quarterly financial statement close activities for reinsurance subsidiaries. Works with the Senior Reinsurance Financial Reporting Accountant for feedback and process improvements.
- Preparation of financial reporting at the treaty and reinsurance legal entity level on a US GAAP, NAIC and other regulatory bases of accounting. Seeks the feedback from the Senior Reinsurance Financial Reporting Accountant on the analysis of the results.
- Partners with various areas with the implementation of new reinsurance treaties and amendments
- Assists with the development of accounting models for reinsurance transactions under multiple accounting bases (US GAAP, NAIC statutory, etc.)
- Assist with performing reinsurance internal controls over financial reporting
- Preparation of reinsurance financial statement schedules and disclosures for F&G GAAP, local regulatory reporting and NAIC statutory reporting
- Assists with ad hoc requests, special projects and other duties related to financial reporting and analysis, as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting or auditing
- Reinsurance accounting experience in the life insurance or financial services industries preferred
- Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
- CPA license preferred
