Job Description

Overview:

In the role as Sales Development Manager you will drive commercial development and sales of Locus Performance Ingredients by identifying collaboration partners, market early adopters and follow-on customer opportunities to create revenues and profit in the U.S. and Canada.  This requires an ability to identify, penetrate and build relationships with potential partners, early adopters, & customers  and to negotiate agreements that meet the business objectives of Locus PI.  In particular, this role will have direct key account selling responsibility as well as the responsibility to gather, assimilate and assess technical, marketing, and competitive information to assist in developing strategies to rapidly grow Locus PI’s revenue. 

Key Responsibilities & Tasks: 

  • Seek out and build strong collaborations with customers in key markets for Locus PI products and technologies.
  • Directly interact with R&D, formulation, and other technical personnel as well as sales, marketing, and management personnel of target accounts to influence adoption of Locus PI technologies.
  • Negotiate appropriate agreements with key customers.
  • Build new relationships and manage existing relationships with customers to build trust and meet budgeted volumes and revenue targets.
  • Research target markets and customers as needed including scouting, identification, evaluation, prioritization and recommendation of opportunities.
  • Manage contractual relationships with customers.
  • Utilize, maintain, and update NetSuite CRM system to capture all field activities and track progress.  
  • Utilize Locus’s Innovation Discovery and Action Plan (IDAP) stage-gate model for commercial development.
  • Preparation of business and sales reports, key account plans, budgets, travel schedules, customer presentations, and customer meeting agendas
  • Plan, attend, and follow up on tradeshow and product launch activities in conjunction with Marketing.
  • Anticipate 50% travel including domestic and limited international travel. **Car allowance is an additional benefit for this position.**

Required Qualifications & Skills: 

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial, business development, analytics, and/or operational problem-solving experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a major multinational chemical company preferably in a technical marketing or business development role.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or alternative project management software.
  • Direct knowledge and understanding of the global surfactants industry.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with and negotiating with major global chemical or CPG companies.
  • Experience managing new product introductions of high-value specialty chemicals.
  • Previous sales or key account management experience in the surfactants industry across multiple market segments – Personal Care, Home Care, I&I, CASE.
